Music review by Luchae Williams
As the mom of a beautiful 9 month old, and I am sure other worship loving parents will agree, I believe that teaching your child the importance of worshiping God should be right on top of your to do list. Which is why I am particularly pleased with the album that I am reviewing today, 25 Favorite Sing-A-Long Bible Songs For Kids. The album was released in February 2015, under the Green Hill Music label, for Songtime Kids.
I must be honest, the title was a bit misleading . Since it speaks about “25 favorite” songs, I expected to find 25 familiar church songs. Instead, I found tracks that are freshly written, not at all familiar, but with a definite Biblical foundation. I liked that the praise songs found in this collection are easy to sing, fun and upbeat. The worship songs on the album are really basic, which helps to speak to its target market, and is full all the promises and truths found in the Word of God. The melodies and music compositions are fun enough for toddlers and teeny boppers alike to enjoy. I think that you can never start too early to get the Word of God into your kids and since music is such a powerful and influential medium, an album like this holds a great amount of worth!
Some of my favorites are ‘Love Never Fails (1 Cor. 13:1-8)‘, ‘I Say It Again … Rejoice! (Phil. 4:4)‘ and ‘God’s Love’ which is based on one of my favorite scriptures found in Romans 8: 35-39, which tells us that absolutely nothing can seperate us from the love of God, through Jesus Christ.
I appreciate that there is a list of song titles on the cover complete with the scripture that the song is based on. I admit, I listened to the album for a 2nd and sometimes 3rd time before the songs began to stick. This probably means that you’ll have to do the same with your young one. But given the iron clad preferences of toddlers and small children, if they like it, they are guaranteed to have you playing it over and over and over again!
I think that spending the money on this album is a worthy investment.
