A dream for the children — Marian Fitz-Gibbon

I sat bolt upright from a dream. I looked at my alarm clock, it was 4am.

The images of the dream came rushing back into my mind.

My immediate default is to pray for my family’s safety. But I felt the Lord say: “Wait, I have more in the dream as it’s not what it seems. This will unfold as the days go by.”

But I was eager to share the essence of the dream with others, hoping they would grasp the urgency of it. But alas it appeared to fall on deaf ears.

frustration led to another default — analysis. A dream course presented itself as an opportunity for me to hack the dream to pieces, till every shade, colour and movement had been so minutely dissected that I had no longer forgotten the essence of the dream and who and where it really was for.

After eagerly awaiting a response for my booking, the response of “Sorry we are fully booked” caae back!

I felt that I was between the ocean and the dark blue sea. Despair and anger were rising like two old playmates on the playground of my mind. No amount of debate would suffice for the turmoil that began to rise.

Have no regrets
Then I remembered something that started brewing on the inside of me, I would like to live with this line:”I can’t believe I’ve done that with the strength of the Lord rather than sitting with a whole lot of regrets.”

With this in mind I decided to share this dream and the outcome and leave you with the urgent plea.

The dream
I was standing in a lush green garden with my eldest daughter at my right hand side. It was a happy beautiful garden. We were both facing north directly.

Her little daughter was energetically climbing a youngish fruit tree. Suddenly her daughter fell out of the tree.

Her daddy and mommy rushed to her in great consternation to check if her bones were broken. I, on the other hand cried out: “Is she spiritually ok?”

With that I sat bolt upright  — at 4am, as I said.

Outbreak of Listeriosis
Saturday dawned and it was hours before the source of Listeriosis was announced.

I felt an urgency for Sunday school teachers and parents throughout SA to teach their children about the Holy Spirit. They were to teach in the most creative manner possible, using whatever resources they had to teach the children about the different aspects of the Holy Spirit and to give them every opportunity to be filled and empowered with the Holy Spirit.

The basis of their teaching was to be John 16. There was a compelling in my Spirit I could not quieten.

John 16:7-16 Amplified Bible  — 7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the [a]Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Savior], and about righteousness, and about judgment: 9 about sin [and the true nature of it], because they do not believe in Me [and My message]; 10 about righteousness [personal integrity and godly character], because I am going to My Father and you will no longer see Me; 11 about judgment [the certainty of it], because the ruler of this world (Satan) has been judged and condemned.
12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear [to hear] them now. 13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future]. 14 He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Because of this I said that He [the Spirit] will take from what is Mine and will reveal it to you.

Let the children come
What does the connection of the Holy Spirit have to do with the dream?

South Africans are renowned for tackling issues like bulldogs. Children were caught in the crossfire of this dreadful outbreak and something simple like polony on bread had become a national if not international disaster.

Imagine being a child eager to climb a tree a show those who they love how high they can go, then suddenly losing your footing.

It’s the comfort of the family that’s needed in the apple tree of life that’s more important in the traumas than a broken bone.

A broken bone can easily be repaired with a cast, but humiliation in hunger and being caught in the crossfire of a debate and court case of national enormity of which you become the subject — and of which you have little or no say — is nothing short of traumatic .

This is where the comfort of the Holy Spirit is vital. The Holy Spirit alone can come alongside and be inside the depths of those winded and wounded and who fall from the apple tree or are caught in the polony fight of life.

The kingdom belongs to these …
Still rumbling with the dream, we were ministering at the Lord’s Place in Tokoza, and a pretty young lass and her friend came alongside me and the dream came rushing back.

I Immediately I turned to my husband and said I must share the Lord’s urgent appeal..

Thank the Lord for responsive pastors like Victor who called all the children forward to be prayed for the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

It’s really true when the word says the Lord is building His kingdom and He doesn’t rely on our memory or fear of man, but He loves children so much.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” –Mathew 19.14

The challenge of life
There has been, and is, a promise for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh, that is on the young and the old in this time.

The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to bring comfort and consolation.

The children are not only in great need of the comfort but of empowering too.

There will be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh and it must not be restricted from the children lest they fall from the Tree of life.

There is no junior Holy Spirit, so don’t wait for your children to climb the tree of life and fall down. Act Now.

17 “‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy. — Acts 2: 17 – 18, NIV
