ACDP leaders, parents, take strong stand against CSE during Pretoria protest march

“Not on our watch!” Bishop Dalton Adams, ACDP member of parliament, said to a big group of riled-up protestors in front of the Department of Basic Education‘s offices in Pretoria last Saturday.

A march was held last in the city to protest against the proposed introduction of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) in schools. The ACDP handed a memorandum to the department and has given it until August 30 to respond. The party says if the department fails to respond it will hold protest marches to all department offices in the nine provinces.

Adams said at the Pretoria protest the ACDP strongly opposes the new, controversial education programme as it goes against core family values the party wants to protect.

“We serve a generational God, therefore we are generational party that aims to protect the interest of future generations. We don’t want our government to blindly follow the recommendations of the United Nations. We love our children! We don’t want them to be manipulated by an education doctrine from foreign soil,” he said.

The top leadership of the ACDP, including the president, Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, attended the march and walked with children and their concerned parents, from Madiba street to the Department of Basic Education’s offices. There, some party leaders explained the dangers of CSE and why parents and the people of South Africa should be deeply concerned about its implementation.

The ACDP’s Linda Palesa Yates explained in a previous Gateway news article that the South African government is promoting CSE that teaches children and young people that they have to be sexual to be normal and that they are entitled to any kind of sexual expression they want. “It attacks parental opinions and religious principles; and it promotes gender confusion, promiscuity, pornography and even prostitution. The ACDP would like government to abandon its plans of introducing CSE into our schools. Learners need age-appropriate education that protects them from being sexually abused while preserving their innocence, and which promotes abstinence and fidelity in marriage.”

ACDP Western Cape leader, Ferlon Christians told protesters on Saturday that the country was in a mess, the education system was corrupt, yet the government wanted to implement CSE that would further undermine the future of the next generation. “Hands-off our children!” he chanted with the crowd. “We will not stop until this is scrapped!”

ACDP Deputy President, Councillor Wayne Thring, said the new CSE was anti-God and anti-children, with the sole intention of corrupting the minds of children and stealing their innocence.

“ACDP will not back down, we will put pressure on the government to stop this, until we succeed!” he said.

  1. I fully agree with the ACDP on this issue. My problem is that most people I speak to about this subject either don’t know about it or they seem to not believe that it can actually be happening.
