Angus Buchan leading #Pray4RainSA in Bloemfontein

Farmer evangelist Angus Buchan urges South Africans to join him in numbers in Bloemfontein on Saturday, January 30, to beseech God — The Rainmaker — for abundant, sustainable rain.

The serious drought in South Africa is placing people — especially farmers — under financial pressure and it is soul destroying when it comes to their crops and livestock dying, he says.

He continues: “And because of that people become anxious and they start saying things and doing things they don’t really mean. So we are going to Bloemfontein on the 30th of January at 10 in the morning and we are going to pray for rain. It is not going to be your normal type of outreach campaign. There will be one or two songs of worship [led by Joe Niemand] and then I will preach the Word of God — probably from 2 Chronicles 7:14 — and then we will pray for rain and we believe that God is going to change the dynamics of the weather. He’s done it before!

“We are coming to ask the Mighty God to change the situation in the physical and the spiritual — first the spiritual.

‘He is the Rainmaker’
“I think you know me well enough, whenever we have a campaign it ends with rain. He is the Rainmaker and I am one of His sons and so are you. So we are beseeching the Rainmaker to bring abundant, sustainable rain and not just a shower and that this will be a sign to the world that Jesus Christ is for us and not against us ( Rom 8:31). We are believing for people from all walks of life to attend this meeting which will be held on Naval Hill in the middle of Bloemfontein.”

Angus says he has been invited to pray for rain in numerous places but God has said “Bloemfontein only”. He says Bloemfontein is a strategic location for the prayer event because it is in the centre of the nation.

“We are asking for workers, for schoolchildren, for farmers to come from far and wide. There is nowhere that is too far to come for rain. I’m talking about the North West Province; Im talking about the Eastern Cape; Im talking about the Mpumalanga area; I’m talking about KwaZulu-Natal — that they will come in their multitudes to beseech the Lord. the Miracle Worker to bring us rain. And I think it is going to be very important when it comes to the type and the number of people who come because that will determine how serious we are for God.”

The #Pray4RainSA event at the ‘sterre wag’/newly built reservoir in Naval Hill, Bloemfontein is free and open to everyone but people must book via iTickets through the website (https://itickets.co.za/events/355910) or by calling 086 1000 291. Farmers are invited to donate some lucerne bales for people to sit on and then to leave them to feed game in the reserve. People attending the 10 to 11am event should bring sunblock, hats, camping chairs, water and umbrellas. Gates open at 8:15am and people are advised to come early to avoid the rush.

Inquiries can be directed to Elana @ Free State Agriculture / FS Landbou.

  1. Thank you Angus for your continued availability ! It’s also significant that you will pray in Bloemfontein as this is the precise place Jacob Zuma et al dedicated the nation to the ancestors a few years ago ….!

  2. Could not agree more with Barbara Wayman’s comment -thank you also Angus for your continued availability .

  3. Yes, God is calling His people (THE CHURCH) in South Africa to turn from their wicked ways. However, His people in the Church are very reluctant to do that, especially when the specific sins are mentioned by name. Their lips may say one thing, but in their hardened hearts they have no intention of changing.
When repenting one must be totally honest about one’s sins and admit/confess them before the Lord with a sincere, remorseful, contrite, broken heart.
    • We must forgive everyone individually or every group of people individually, who has ever sinned against us and we must bless them and pray for them, even if they never ask us for our forgiveness. We should ask the Lord to bless them in their homes, in their families, in their work, in their finances, etc. and to send someone across their path to proclaim to them what it really means to become a child of God and to save them from sin in this life now and from the wrath to come on judgement day.
    • Then we must confess before God our own feelings of hatred, bitterness, resentment, etc. that we have harboured against these people and ask God to forgive us for taking offence when these people hurt us or stolen from us or killed one of our loved ones or robbed us or lied to us or about us or gossiped about us or sinned against us in one way or another and undertake not to harbour these bad thoughts again, and undertake to rather think good thoughts about these people and to bless them when these people and their bad deeds toward us come to mind again. That is repentance.
    • Then we must confess before God the bad deeds we did like stealing, lying, cheating, dishonesty, fornicating, smoking, drinking, using drugs, exploiting the poor and any other bad behaviour that the Holy Spirit reminds us of and undertake not to do it again. If it is at all possible we should make restitution for any loss we have caused to others. That is repentance.
    • Confession and repentance are also the first step to being Born Again after the Holy Spirit has made us aware that we as individuals are a sinner in need of a Saviour.
    • When these urges and feelings of hatred, bitterness, resentment or guilt or inferiority or self-hatred return, and the devil will try and bring these thoughts and feelings of guilt and self-pity back again, we must refuse to harbour these ill-feelings again and be determined not to go back to our old wicked ways again. We must learn to take every thought captive and make every thought obedient to Jesus Christ. Living a life of victory is being aware of the wiles of the devil so that we can abide (stay, remain and continue) in a love relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and remain in a love relationship with our fellow man right up to the end.
Repentance is not a once off happening; it is a way of life submitted to God through a love relationship with Jesus Christ and being led by the Holy Spirit day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment. As one grows in one’s relationship with Jesus, the Holy Spirit will show us new things that we need to deal with, confess and repent of as we as individuals grow from glory to glory in our love relationship with God through Jesus Christ by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
    2Ch 7:13 If I shut up the heavens, and there is no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send a plague among My people;
2Ch 7:14 if My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2Ch 7:15 Now My eyes shall be open, and My ears shall be open to the prayer of this place.
God says that He shuts up the heavens so that there is no rain. He is waiting for us to repent. He is waiting and watching and listening to hear our prayer. It says so in verse 15.
I can think of at least 3 ways God draws us to a place of repentance and convincing us of sin, righteousness and the judgment to come.
Rom 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His kindness, and the forbearance and long-suffering, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
    HIS KINDNESS LEADS TO REPENTANCE
2Co 7:10 For the grief according to God works repentance to salvation, not to be regretted, but the grief of the world works out death.
THE GRIEF THAT HE CAUSES LEADS TO REPENTANCE
2Ti 2:24 But the servant of the Lord must not strive, but to be gentle to all, apt to teach, patient,
2Ti 2:25 in meekness instructing those who oppose, if perhaps God will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth,
2Ti 2:26 and that they awake out of the snare of the Devil,………………..
    HIS TRUTH LEADS TOREPENTANCE
Preaching the truth with the purpose of piercing the hearts of each and every hearer like Peter did on the day of Pentecost is what is needed to bring the Church of Jesus Christ in South Africa back to a state of heartfelt repentance.
I believe that our God is tired of His children claiming to love Him as our Father, but then serving the devil as our father.
As believer priests and believer prophets the Church of Jesus Christ should also be proclaiming the Full Gospel of Jesus Christ by demonstrating its power to a lost nation. But the Church of Jesus Christ in South Africa has to a large extent fallen apart morally and spiritually. The only difference between the world and the Church is that the Church has prayed a prayer and continues to sin just like the world, believing that it is going to heaven, while the rest of the nation also continues to sin just like the world without praying a prayer and then the Church tells the latter group that they are going to hell. Something is very wrong.
1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
As New Testament believers God expects His Church to be holy, perfect and righteous. On top of that as New Testament believers we are not only believer priests, but also believer prophets and believer kings. Does the Church proclaim that, do the members believe that? Not at all!!! Nobody believes that. Ask any Christian in South Africa if he or she is holy and it is unlikely that you will get a positive answer.
    Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all, and holiness, without which no one shall see the Lord;
We say we are sinners saved by grace and continue sinning just like the world and then we tell those on the outside of the Church to repent when the Church itself needs to repent. How can the sinners inside the church tell the sinners outside the church to stop sinning??? So where should repentance begin? That’s right. In the Church.
Then on top of that the Church (70 – 90 % of the nation) votes for an Anti-Christ government that promotes practices such as the killing of unborn babies and other horrific practices that God regards as an abomination. On top of that we say that Jesus is the Way to God, but when we pray, we pray to the spirit of the ancestors or to the spirit of the virgin Mary. This must break our Father’s heart.
I can write a book about all these things, but let me end with this one question:
Is God going to once again send the rain despite our ongoing rebellious ways or will He wait for true repentance within at least a segment of SINNING SAINTS who call themselves the Church of Jesus Christ in South Africa?
All the faiths, including “Christians”, are praying in KZN for rain today 23 January 2016. Our God is a jealous God. Let’s see what happens. Or am I just too eager to see the Church of Jesus Christ in South Africa standing out as the only hope for South Africa?
2 Chronicles 7:14 is a call to revival. The revival that will bring the physical rain and the Spiritual revival will be in direct proportion to the extent that the people who are called by His Name are prepared to repent.
Who shut the rain? God did it, to attract our attention.
What does God want us to do? To repent (stop sinning) from our wicked ways and to abide (stay, remain and continue) in a love relationship with Him. Then and only then will He heal our land.
Amos 4:7 I also withheld the rain from you while there were still three months until harvest. I sent rain on one city but no rain on another. One field received rain while a field with no rain withered.
Amos 4:8 Two or three cities staggered to another city to drink water but were not satisfied, yet you did not return to Me. This is the LORD’s declaration.
Prov. 6:16 “There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers.”

Psa 5:4 For You are not a God that enjoys wickedness; nor shall evil dwell with You.
Psa 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in Your sight. You hate all doers of iniquity.
    Psa 5:6 You shall destroy those who speak lies; Jehovah will despise the bloody and deceitful man;
The Lord abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.
So what shall we say about all these things?
Co_13:5 examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith, prove your own selves. Do you not know your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless you are reprobates?
What can we do? Make sure that you are born again and in right standing with the Most High God. How do I do that? Make sure that I am born again. What must I do to be born again.
    How will I be saved?
    1. By forgiving everyone who has ever sinned against me
    2. By confessing and repenting of every known sin (undertaking not to do it again)
    3. By receiving God’s forgiveness and a clear conscience that the application and appropriation of the Blood of Jesus gives
    4. By believing that Jesus died, was buried and that God raised Jesus from the dead
    5. By making Jesus the Lord and Master of my life
    6. By being baptised in water to declare to every spiritual being and every human witness that:
    • I identify with the death and resurrection of Jesus,
    • The sins that I have confessed and repented of have been washed away by the blood of Jesus
    • I am now a new creation serving the most High God through Jesus Christ
    • The sins I used to do, I do them no more
    7. By being filled with the Holy Spirit and demonstrating the fruit and the power of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
    8. By being led by the Holy Spirit in my daily life and
    9. By abiding (staying, remaining and continuing) in a love relationship with God by obeying the commandments of Jesus until I die or until He returns
If we are born again and abide (stay, remain and continue) in a love relationship with Jesus Christ and His Word abides in us, we can ask Him (The Father) for anything, even to send rain upon this evil nation and He will do it.
BUT IT ALL BEGINS WITH HONEST REPENTANCE BEFORE A MOST HOLY GOD IN THE NAME OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.
May God help this nation called South Africa.
    Warm Regards in Jesus Christ
    John Saunders

  4. All through the drought, I could never even look up to God and pray for rain because:
    1. 2 to 3 million babies have been murdered through abortion among us over the last 18 years and our nation has ignored their plight and cries for life. How can we now dare to cry for water whilst we left them to be killed? We surely deserve no rain.
    2. What is done to the least, is done to Jesus. He is also being murdered when the unborn are murdered and we looked away and allowed it. How can we ask Him for rain? That is arrogance, selfish and egocentric.
    3. Jesus bore our own sins in His body on the cross. Our own sins caused and still cause His pain and death in our lives and hearts. How can we ask Him now for rain whilst we continue in sin, grieving and quenching His Holy Spirit? As Johan says above – first repent and confess. In Isaiah 1 God says He hates and will not hear prayers when there is sin and unrighteousness and when the fatherless, orphans and widows are ignored and ill-treated.
    4. The Word became flesh – i.e. Jesus. When we break the Word, we break Him. How can we ask Him for rain when we break Him and His words?
    5. The Law and the prophets say that we must do to others what we want done to ourselves. If we allow abortion and injustice all around us, it will be done to us. So we deserve the drought. How can we then ask for rain?
    6. There are two kinds of hearts praying to God for rain. The one is praying like the one man on the cross next to Jesus: “If you are God, save me from this.” His way of asking blasphemed God and illustrated no fear or respect for God or any spiritual insight or any sense of own sins or justice. He was not heard and died – and went to hell. The other man rebuked such prayers, admitted his sins, judged himself as deserving of death, acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and not deserving such treatment and acknowledged His as God. He only asked for mercy – not to be taken off. He still suffered and died – but was forgiven and went to heaven. Surely, we in SA deserve NO RAIN AT ALL in view of the above. We dare not ask for rain. Such prayers are blasphemy and ignorance. The only thing we can do is to confess and repent from our sins and accept we all deserve to die – and ask God for forgiveness andmercy to save our souls. If any rain falls, it is pure undeserved grace and NOT because of our prayers.

  5. While I was reading Daan’s insightful contribution, I thought: “Where are the church leaders in all of this?” Where are the other church celebrities in all of this? Where are the denominations in all of this? Where are the so-called apostles, the prophets, the bishops, the evangelists, the pastors, the teachers, the preachers, the priests, the dominees, etc. in all of this?

Because these guys have been backward in coming forward God has to use Angus to gather the people together.

Having said that the question remains: “Is next Saturday going to be just another large gathering where no real confession and repentance will take place?” Not so long ago we had a day of repentance. Did that make a difference? Did you see any change? If the day of repentance actually brought about repentance, we would not now be praying for rain. Or am I missing something here?

We will, however, after next Saturday’s meeting, probably be able to brag and stroke our egos about the large number of people we could round up to pray for rain. It is my considered opinion that South Africa is such a sinful and rebellious nation that the rains have been withheld to bring about a measure of discipline and grief that will at least bring a portion of the true Church (about 2% of the nation) to a place of self-examination, confession and repentance. How many more times must we go through this exercise?

Will we again pretend to confess and repent and then when the meeting is over, go back to our:
Murder of unborn babies and the approval thereof?
Continued spiritual and physical adultery and the approval thereof?
Sexual sins and the approval of the wicked sexual activities of others?
Corruption, greed and dishonesty of every kind and the approval thereof by others, with the idea that “business is business”?
Continued unforgiveness, hatred, anger, bitterness, rebellion and lovelessness and the approval thereof when done by others? How quickly and easily we forget that God regards lust as adultery, anger as murder and rebellion as witchcraft and how easily we sidestep these issues and brush them aside with our clever and detailed contentions and arguments.

If God were to call His Church in South Africa into the Courtroom of Heaven right now, will we be found guilty or not guilty?
If God were to call His Church in South Africa into the Courtroom of Heaven after next week and Saturday’s meeting in Bloemfontein, will we be found guilty or not guilty?

Dear reader, if you have read this far, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will cause you as an individual such grief in your heart to lead you to a place of sincere introspection, confession and repentance, on behalf of yourself and your ancestors, which in turn may persuade our God to once again send the rain.

  6. ROM 8:32 HE who did not withhold or spare even HIS own SON but gave HIM up for us all, will HE not also with HIM freely and graciously give us all (other) things.Romans 10:11 The Scripture says, No man who believes in HIm (JESUS CHRIST the SON of GOD)who adheres to, relies on, and trust in HIM will ever be put to shame or be dissappointed. Ps. 34:22 Isa. 28:16

  7. I totally agree with the posts mentioned above. This is a time where South African’s and other African nations affected need to examine themselves, confess their sins, repent and pursue a life of godliness. The church needs to rise up in this time and discern what the Spirit of the Lord is doing. If repentance is that, then so be it. But if we remain in our stubborn ways we will suffer and our children will suffer. This drought is bringing many to their needs. May God have mercy on us, I thank Jesus that we can find right standing with him after commiting such tragedies mentioned above.
