Angus Buchan will ‘extend momentum’ at Amanzimtoti Mighty Men Conference

Angus Buchan is set to address attendees at the 2017 Mighty Men Conference at Amanzimtoti’s Kuswag High School  from July 7 to 9.

Following the impactful “It’s Time” event on May 22, farmer-evangelist Angus Buchan is set to address the Mighty Men Conference at Amanzimtoti’s Kuswag High School from July 7 to 9.

Around a million South Africans attended the It’s Time national day of prayer called by Buchan in Bloemfontein and the evangelist’s participation at the Amanzimtoti MMC will serve to extend this encouraging momentum, says  event organiser Freddie van Vuuren.

“We are delighted to be returning to this welcoming community for a fourth year and are excited to continue the positive energy flowing from the ‘It’s Time’ congregation that will accompany Angus Buchan to this year’s Mighty Men Conference,” said Van Vuuren.

“He (Buchan) will be joined by community leaders Dr  Anthony Jacobs and Pastor Andrew Anderson who will continue the message of ‘restitution’ with a focus on nurturing the father-son relationship and improving relations within our households, community and country.”

The guest speakers
Dr Anthony Jacobs — who will address the conference attendees on Friday at 7pm — has a wealth of ministry experience within the local church and para-church environment working with youth, managing a Bible school as well as his role as presiding pastor at Kingsway Ministries in Amanzimtoti. His passion for theological teaching and helping people is evident during his Mighty Men appearances which have been well received since his introduction in 2015.

“It is an absolute privilege to be ministering at the Mighty Men Conference again and this year my theme will be ‘In pursuit of happiness’,” said Jacobs. “This will be an inspirational and creative message which challenges young and old to be as God created. At the end of the message, men will be able to grasp the true meaning of being happy in all aspects of life.”

Speaking on Saturday at 9am and 7pm is Empangeni-based pastor, Andrew Anderson, a dynamic livestock farmer who was schooled under Angus Buchan.

“My calling and my passion is ‘men’s ministry’,” explained Anderson, who also heads up the Zululand Mighty Men.

“My theme this year will be ‘Crossing Barriers!’, looking at overcoming or crossing obstacles that keep people apart and prevent communication and, ultimately, progress.

“In our modern lives, the enemy has many ways to put barriers in the path between ourselves and God, so, with this message, I will be trusting God to provide a breakthrough which destroys the barriers in men’s lives.”

Central to his talk will be the message from Philippians 4:13 which reads: I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses inner strength into me, that is, I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency.

All are welcome on Sunday
Following this message, Angus Buchan will be speaking in the final slot at 12pm on Sunday July 9 and everyone is welcome to attend.

Sapphire Coast Tourism chairman, Monique Botha, said they were excited to, once again, be a part of this popular annual event.

Access to the event venue, talks and use of all the camping facilities — which will include hot showers — are all free of charge. The campsite opens on Friday July 7 with the event officially starting at 7pm with the first talk. From 1pm on Saturday there will be a braai with pap and gravy supplied; attendees are asked to bring their own meat. This is a wonderful time for conference-goers to interact and exchange ideas, as well as discussing challenges, with other like-minded men.
