Angus Buchan, the founder of the Mighty Men Conference movement, which started on his farm Shalom in Kwa-Zulu Natal, has high expectations for the Karoo Mighty Men Conference 2016 (KMMC 2016).

“I believe we are going to see the power and the love of God demonstrated through faithful men, because of the situation that we are now faced with in South Africa,” says Uncle Angus, who will lead the Sunday morning family session at the sixth KMMC.

“I am not just talking about the physical drought in the country. I am also talking about a spiritual drought in which people no longer fear God and immorality seems to be the name of the game.

“However, we are trusting for reconciliation between men and God and between men and men.

Holiness and obedience
“I think it is absolutely vital that all the Mighty Men Conferences (MMC) throughout the country speak the same message of holiness, which is the end product of obedience.

“When people become obedient to God’s Holy Word they automatically become holy and that is when God will start to move on their behalf and on behalf of the nation of South Africa.

“God has called us to be holy. The Lord says in Leviticus 20:26 ‘You shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine’.

“This is the beauty of the whole MMC movement, which is a God ordained movement. After the various MMC meetings men from every sector of society, from sportsmen to farmers, businessmen, teachers, workers, executives, and from Parliament to the men who sweep the streets, return home with changed hearts and that is what we believe God wants.

“We trust for a turnaround among the men; for a Holy Spirit visitation in which men will be set free, renewed, sharpened and able to go back to their families, workplaces and Churches with a brand new vision.”

The straight-talking farmer-evangelist believes there is going to be a measure of holiness at KMMC like we haven’t seen before, because God is looking for mighty men to stand up and be counted.

He says God wants us to be holy people, but we can only become holy when Jesus is the most important person in our lives.

“If Jesus is not everything, the Alpha and the Omega, in our lives, we will be tempted to share God’s glory. But God will not allow us to touch His glory. The more God uses someone, the more that believer needs to depart and spend time alone with the Lord, so that they do not lose the perspective of who they are and who God is.

God’s grace alone
“For truly we are nothing; except by the grace of God.”

Uncle Angus says we need to pay careful attention and submit to God, even if we are scared or fearful to obey.

“Remember that if God is calling us to do something, He will be with us. If God is for us, as the Bible says in Romans 8:31, no man can stand against us. And in Matthew 10:28 Jesus says, ‘Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.

“Never compromise when it comes to the Word of God. Obey Him and He will be with you. The disciples themselves, when they saw Jesus calm the storm on the lake asked: ‘Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him’? (Matthew 8:27)

“God has favoured us with Jesus Christ, and we must never forget that, especially in these turbulent times. We are blessed with every spiritual blessing from above because of our relationship with Jesus. Even before the foundation of the world, God chose us to be His children, to be part of His heavenly family.

“Our heavenly Father showed his love for us by giving His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, as a living sacrifice for our sins so that we might have eternal life (John 3:16).

“Furthermore, God has given us His very own Holy Spirit to help us walk in His ways.”

However, the MMC originator reminds that it is only God that can bring a man to salvation. There is no man, no movement, no denomination, and no church that can bring a man to Christ, only God can quicken a man’s spirit.

“Once that man has given his life to Christ, the responsibility and the onus is on him to keep walking with Jesus, so he needs to get into a fellowship, into a church when he gets home and he needs to become active,” he explains.

Uncle Angus says it is imperative that those not attending KMMC stand in the gap and intercede on behalf of the men who are attending, because they need to be uplifted throughout the weekend by the prayers of their loved ones for the Holy Spirit to have liberty to move in their lives.
