Building bridges to the Father — Marian Fitz-Gibbon

No … London Bridge won’t fall down! Neither will any of the other bridges of the world. We’re standing together in love and we’re determined to build bridges of unity across the seas and rivers of humanity in unity.

Bridge building
Bridge building is a precise, messy, exact, noisy, complicated, and a highly-negotiating process. If you were to run some of these words past the late Dr Michael Eaton and any of our fine leaders in this world you would have a variety of opinions on how we should go about this vital and critical process.

Current events
Right now some of you may be thinking of the attack that happened on London Bridge. It shouldn’t have happened, and from the reporting it appears that the situation was speedily brought under control. For this, it’s a well done, but I wonder if there were Christians on hand at the speed of light to lay hands on the injured and bring the Kingdom in such a highly charged situation?

As difficult as it may be, it’s in these times that we are called to be ready with a word of encouragement, be quick with the gospel and watch what the Lord will do. Some of you feel we may be preying on the innocent, but oh my oh my, when there’s trauma you really need love and the love of the Lord is a true stabiliser and sometimes the only answer. I don’t think we have time to wait for a church service in these circumstances — build a bridge to eaven immediately.

The medical healers
My mind goes to some doctors I know that give it their all in very challenging situations. They will do everything medically for their patients and tucked deep inside is a drive to bring the Kingdom of God in the most excellent ways. They fly into crisis situations by helicopter and ambulance, they’re first at the scene, they’re charting deep deep oceans, in war-torn countries up Africa, bringing reason and healing into the dark places of people’s minds; those that listen and reflect and then some that prepare those to accept. For all you phenomenal healers who hold the pain of South Africa and Africa, Christ is truly the gain.

Where are the children
When building a bridge one looks at both sides. So often it’s the children that stand on the banks. They love to play at the water’s edge never fearing the possible dread. Have you ever wondered why Jesus said: “Suffer not the children to come unto me for such is the Kingdom of Heaven?” Take care of the children, love them, feed them, and teach them, laugh and dance with them and you will build a highway that bridges all the way to the heart of the Father.
