Can God save broken dreams?

[notice]A devotional based on everyday experiences.[/notice]

Joseph had a dream. When he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more. He said, “Listen to this dream I had. We were all out in the field gathering bundles of wheat. All of a sudden my bundle stood straight up and your bundles circled around it and bowed down to mine.” Genesis 37:5-7 (MSG)

What dream have you seen end differently to the way you hoped in your life?

Joseph must have felt like his dreams were nothing more than nighttime adventures when his brothers stripped him, threw him into some old cisterns, and then sold him into slavery.

But God doesn’t end stories with slavery.

God didn’t send his only son to die on a cross and buy our freedom only to let the story end with bondage.

At the darkest moment in Joseph’s life, when he is in prison for a crime he didn’t commit God intervenes in Joseph’s life. To cut a long story short Joseph is freed from prison and given a position in the land second only to the king of Egypt.

Many years later when his brothers were starving to death they found their way to Joseph and they bowed down to him.

The dream that seemed impossible came true.

Sometimes when it looks like your dreams are ending. It’s not the end. It’s just the beginning.

Like Joseph it doesn’t mean the path to see your God-given dream come true will be easy but it does mean if you keep surrendering to Jesus, asking him to make something of your shattered dreams that he will turn them into something you could never have come up with on your own.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you know what my broken dreams are. I pray that you will come and breathe life into them, that you will use whatever means you desire to resurrect the dreams that are from you. I am willing to do your will, your way. Amen
