One of the world’s biggest, multi-platinum selling, Christian bands, Casting Crowns, will be live in South Africa this June, in association with Radio Tygerberg, Groot FM and Christian Art Media. The Atlanta, Georgia based group will be in Cape Town on June 26 at the GrandWest Arena, in Johannesburg on June 27 at Rhema Church, and in Pretoria on June 28 at Moreletapark Gemeente. Johannesburg and Pretoria tickets are currently on sale and Cape Town ticket sales will open on the April 7. Tickets can be booked through itickets.co.za. Ticket prices range from R175 to R275.

It has been six years since the seven members of the Grammy Award winning outfit performed live in South Africa. “Due to the continuous demand for their music on radio stations and extraordinary album sales locally we decided to give their SA fans a huge surprise and bring them out” says, Hardus Zevenster, Radio Tygerberg tour promoter.

Casting Crowns’ has consistently delivered songs that spur listeners to evaluate their relationship with God and with each other. Their 13th album “Thrive” released in January 2014, hearing Casting Crowns’ frontman Mark Hall singing those words in the title track, it’s hard not to feel peace wash over your soul. Life can be so challenging and it’s easy to become overwhelmed. What a gift to be reminded we were made to thrive!

Since arriving in 2003 with its self-titled Beach Street/Reunion Records debut album, the GRAMMY winning band has also earned 17 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. The group has been awarded one RIAA 2x multi-Platinum album, three RIAA Platinum albums, two RIAA Platinum DVDs, six RIAA Gold albums, four Gold DVDs and four RIAA Gold certified digital singles. Casting Crowns has toured extensively internationally, performing concerts in 21 countries.

“To be on a plane for nine hours and get somewhere and they are singing your song still amazes me,” Hall says. “Wherever we go, we want to spend some time with the youth workers and encourage them in how to disciple teenagers. We’re not just going over singing songs, which is awesome, but influencing the influencers who are going to be there when we are gone, to me is massive. The basic idea is let God define himself throughout everything we do, and if we do that, we all will thrive together.”

It’s been more than 10 years since the members of Casting Crowns heard their first single on the radio in July 2003. Since then so much has happened in the lives of each member and along the way God has taught them so much. “He’s opened our eyes to our suspicion that He was way bigger than we thought He was,” Hall says with a smile. “He didn’t need Casting Crowns to come along to help His word get out. God is winning. He’s changing the world. It may look at times like things are getting darker and darker, but they are not. Everywhere you go, you can see light and light wins. It always wins.”
