Christian teachers will be honoured and inspired at an event at Val de Vie Estate between Paarl and Franschoek on Sunday, October 20.

Speakers at the Teachers’ Day of Honour will underline the legacy of Christian teachers in establishing the Gospel in communities across the country. They will also provide pointers on how Christian teachers can impact their school communities, say the organisers. Opportunity for much needed networking and mutual prayer will also be created. Werner Cloete, a Stellenbosch teacher and author of the book, First Class: the Calling and Impact of a Christian Teacher, will be one of the speakers.

Headmasters are encouraged to send staff members to the event which is being jointly presented by VCSV/UCSA, Focus on the Family, Radio Pulpit, JOY Magazine and Salt Publishers. All involved in education are urged to attend and also to invite teacher friends who will benefit from the occasion.

The event also provides an opportunity for anybody to help build on the valuable legacy of Christian teachers by sponsoring a former teacher to attend the event, by encouraging anyone in education to attend, or by sending notes of encouragement of thanks to specific teachers or to teachers in general, say the organisers. As time is limited and bookings need to be completed, interested parties should contact the organisers as soon as possible.

The Teachers Day of Honour will be from 08:30 to 12:30 on October 20. The registration cost of R175 includes breakfast, tea and mini conference. To book, please contact SALT Events at: 072 0268 348.
