SA memorial service details to be announced
Dr Myle Munroe, 60, prolific author, bible teacher, governmental consultant and leadership mentor, his wife, Ruth, and members of his ministry team died in a plane crash in the Bahamas at 00h10 (SA time) on Monday (November 10) after their Lear jet struck a crane and exploded during their landing approach to Grand Bahama International Airport. All nine people aboard the jet died.
Munroe who was founder and president of Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI), was on his way to the 2014 Global Leadership Forum which he hosted. Myles Munroe International made a statement on their facebook page: Dear Facebook Friends, On behalf of Myles Munroe International and ITWLA. We would like to inform you that the Global Leadership Forum will continue. The Forum will be for two and a half days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning). This is what Dr. Munroe would have wanted. Please keep his family and the ministry in prayers.
Munroe attended President Jacob Zuma’s inauguration in Pretoria in May after a lengthy pre-election meeting with Zuma in April at the invitation of the South African Government. During a visit to South Africa in August this year Dr Munroe led a business breakfast and he and Ruth hosted a marriage seminar and their joint 60th birthday celebration.
In a statement on the passing of the much-loved and respected Christian leader and his wife, Myles Munroe International, Africa says: “It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic demise of Drs Myles and Ruth Munroe who left us at 00H10, Monday morning South African time and 17:10 local time. The death was a result of a plane crash while making an approach for landing at Grand Bahama International Airport. The crash claimed the lives of 5 other people and 2 pilots who were aboard the private jet.
“Drs Myles and Ruth Munroe are survived by their daughter Charisa Makaria Munroe 31, and their son Chairo Myles Junior Munroe 30, as well as family members on both sides of their families.
