Justin Bieber was arrested early on Thursday (January 23) on suspicion of driving under the influence and drag racing in Miami Beach, Florida, police confirmed on Twitter.

Bieber, 19, had consumed alcohol and marijuna, reports AP. The pop star was driving a yellow Lamborghini, he showed “signs of impairment” and failed a field sobriety test, a police spokesman said. He was then taken into custody and booked on a drunken driving charge.

Bieber has been spotted in different places in the Miami area in the past few days, and has been posting videos and photos of himself smoking a cigar, skateboarding at Lil Wayne’s Miami Skate Park. E! reports he spent some time with his dad, Jeremy Bieber, walking around the beach together.

The news came less than a week after Bieber’s mansion in Calabasas, California, was searched by police officers following a vicious egg attack on his neighbour’s home.

Justin Bieber’s mother Pattie Mallette has expressed concern for her 19-year-old son recently following his alleged use of recreational drugs and behavioural issues.

The 37-year-old single mother – who gave birth to Justin when she was 17 – believes fame is the main cause for his misbehavior, she says.

“I think so many people go into the entertainment industry with amazing Christian roots and they get influenced somehow,” Mallette told The Sun, “I ask that people keep me and Justin in their minds. I pray for him every day.”

Pattie, who has battled depression, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol addiction in the past doesn’t blame Bieber for his wild partying and run-ins with the law.

According to the Sun newspaper, Pattie said during a night out in Houston, Texas: ”I started self-medicating with drugs and alcohol.
”Everything sort of came to a head by the time I was 17, when I tried to commit suicide.”

”People pressured me to have an abortion. But I had a very strong feeling that I was doing the right thing. It was the best decision of my life.

“I think it’s important to pray for leaders and people of influence and God has put (Justin) in this place of influence,” Pattie said.

“If Justin’s struggling, don’t kick him when he’s down or condemn him – pray for him”, she added.

  2. I pray for Justin, that he will come to his senses and return to the Lord with all his heart in Jesus’ Name.
