Make War on the Offensive

advertorial
God has blessed each one of us with different talents and abilities, and wishes us to express those gifts. But sometimes things go wrong when we try to do things our own way, and forget to include Him in our plans.

propheticwordbank2Don’t wait for the devil to attack before you launch an attack. Always be on the offensive with prayers.

Suppose you go to the doctor and he gives you a prescription for medicine. If you expect it to work, you must take it according to the directions. But at home you put the medicine next to you bed and you keep growing worse. You call the doctor and say, “I got this prescription filled. I paid money for it. But I’m worse.” The doctor asks, “Are you taking it according to directions?” You say, “No. But I’ve got it right here at my bedside.”

It won’t work just because it’s in the bottle. You’ve got to take it! The same is true for God’s Word in Prophetic Word Bank. It won’t work just because you have it by your bed. To work and produce results, you need to Make War on the Offensive.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(Ephesians 6:12).

From the fall of Satan, man has remained his enemy. He hates man and seeks to destroy him at every opportunity (John 10:10). It is common to find believers praying against perceived human enemies. This is an error, born out of their ignorance. The Scripture says, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood”, meaning the real adversary is not flesh and blood, and therefore not any man.

Someone may hate, dislike or despise you, but that does not make him your enemy. Your real adversary is the devil and his spiritual cohorts of “principalities”, “powers”, “rulers of the darkness of this world”, and “spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). These are not flesh and blood. The devil’s influence makes someone dislike you. He tricks people into thinking their fellow men are the adversaries. You must know the world is controlled from the spiritual realm.

Make war on the offensive. Don’t wait for the devil to attack before you launch an attack. Always be on the offensive with prayers. Even when everything is going well, do not relent with fervent prayers. Make war in the time of peace, so that in the time of war, you will have peace.

In spiritual warfare there are two errors: over-emphasis and under-emphasis. Some Christians blame every sin or mishap on demonic attacks. Others ignore the spiritual. The Bible tells us our battle is against spiritual powers. The key to successful spiritual warfare is finding the balance and being on the offensive. Jesus at times cast out demons from people, but also healed the sick without any mention of demons.

The great truth is that no matter the hierarchy of the devil or his cohorts, they are under your feet (Ephesians 1:21-23). There is no demon hatched out of Hades that can ever defeat you. Therefore, fear not! Go ahead start a fight with Prophetic Word Bank.

  1. An interesting take on Spiritual Warfare – thank you for stimulating us. Yes, we must recognise our true enemies, and not be deceived into thinking they are ‘flesh and blood’. Another angle is to study all nine verses of Ephesians 6:10-18, where we are told to “stand firm” (not “attack”) when the forces of evil attack. These verses are “God’s directions for taking the medicine.” See that the six items of armour of God which we must put on has only one offensive item: the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. (Prayer is both defensive and offensive). May I suggest that in all our spiritual warfare, we should be positive and focus on Jesus Christ and His upward calling. Beware of an arrogant spirit – Jude v9 says we must let the Lord rebuke the devil. If the archangel Michael did not directly confront the devil, who are we to do so? This is where the strong Name of Jesus is able to function on our behalf. Run the race of faith, looking to JESUS! The runner who takes her eyes off the goal, and is looking around at the opposition, will not win the race.
