Top 25 Gospel Praise Songs: Review

Maranatha

Music review by Luchae Williams

Top 25 Gospel Praise Songs, rolled out in September 2015, is yet another fantastic compilation album from Maranatha Music.

The double disc offering showcases the best of the best in gospel praise, and features popular worship songs such as Hezekiah Walker’s ‘Every praise‘, The Tasha Cobbs/Will Reagan favorite ‘Break every chain‘ and the catchy ‘Let it rise‘ made popular by Big Daddy Weave.

With over the top choral elements being the main feature on just about every track on this album, this is definitely one for those who have a love for the full gospel sound.

Some my favorites include worship song ‘Amazing‘ made popular by Tiffany McGhee and the impassioned ‘Praise is what I do‘ of William Murphy. The song speaks about living a life of worship and Murphy adds just the right amount of conviction into every single word that he sings.

The ever popular ‘Our God is greater’ has been reworked and can be found in ‘Our God/Nobody greater‘ – a contemporary Gospel mashup. Other notable mashups to be found on this offering is worship mix ‘God has smiled on me/I just want to praise you‘ and the well known worship song by William McDowell, ‘I give myself away’, in the mashup  ‘I give myself away/I won’t go back‘.

Produced with Gospel music stylings by 2 time Stellar Award winning artist and producer Phillip Carter, and performed by leading voices in the Gospel Music Workshop Of America (GMWA), this is one for choir directors and choral music enthusiasts.
