MATT MAHER — ALL THE PEOPLE SAID AMEN

You might be thinking that I should know the artists whom I review, but on the other hand I it has its advantages ‘meeting’ them for the first time when I hear their music… Let me introduce you to Matt Maher and his brand new release, ‘All The People Said Amen’.

Playing this CD in my car for the first time had me dancing in my seat! As the first few lines filled that confined space around me, I immediately pictured an excited group of friends doing line-dancing somewhere in a barn as I too became one of the ‘All The People Said Amen’ crowd.

Problem is that this CD got stuck in my car; I couldn’t stop listening!

This album has some studio work as well as some live recordings. ‘Burning in my soul’ reminded me of Jeremiah 20:9. “If I say, I will not make mention of [the Lord] or speak any more in His name, in my mind and heart it is as if there were a burning fire shut up in my bones. And I am weary of enduring and holding it in; I cannot [contain it any longer].” –Amplified Bible.

Maher has a deep understanding of his need for Jesus and this is evident in his simple yet pure version of the beautiful song ‘Lord i need thee’, bringing together artists like Christy Nockels and Daniel Carson to name but a few.

Listening to this album was like unpacking a gift box full of surprises, one of them being “Your grace is enough’. I first heard this song a few years back when Paul Baloche recorded it and was very pleasantly surprised to learn that Maher actually wrote it in 2004.

Among all the interesting contents on this CS you will definitely find some beautiful and intimate worship songs not to be missed, like ‘Mighty fortress’. Another surprise song has a real rock feel to it in — ‘On my way’, complete with some great piano parts to get you ‘movin’ and to end of on a Greek note, ‘It is good’ will tickle you!

This album has a real familiarity to it and I believe you will feel right at home here…

Until we meet again, let the worshipper in you arise!!
