Momentum building ahead of Love Cape Town City Fest

Preparatory events and a 40-day prayer network are well underway ahead of the Love Cape Town City Fest taking place over three weekends from November 2 to 16 in three different locations in Cape Town.

The initiative is being organised by African Enterprise (AE), the Luis Palau Association (LPA), as well as local churches and ministries in Cape Town with the aim of reaching 300 000 people of all ages with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

During August, more than 130 Youth Pastors and leaders from across Cape Town attended a Youth Vission event in Mitchell’s Plain. Inspirational messages about unity, a life in Christ, spreading the Gospel and what can be expected during the festival were delivered by Mkhululi Letsatsi, Pastor Preston Jongbloed, paralympic gold medallist Fanie van der Merwe, Chris van der Merwe from Inspired2Become and Pastor Anton Myburgh. Youth pastors were encouraged to sign up as games facilitators and counsellors for the Fest.

Other events taking place ahead of November 2 are:

• A counsellors’ orientation gathering on Saturday October 26
• Local outreaches – Churches and fraternals are hosting local outreaches throughout the city. Churches that are interested in hosting a local outreach can contact Evangelist Enrico Arends at arends@everynationcpt.org
• One-on-one outreaches – Believers will gather at locations throughout the city from 9am -12.30pm on November 4 to 8 and again on November 12 to 15. They will break into small groups to reach out to individuals.
• Stratified evangelism – There will be outreaches in schools, prisons, factories, businesses and hospitals. Pastor Ricky Naidoo can be contacted at ricky@lovecapetown.org if you would like to invite an evangelist to minister at your business or factory;
• Dinner in the Dark and Women’s Lunch – Table hosts will invite influential people from across the city for these events, which will be by invitation only. For more details, contact Pastor Joy Chetty at joychetty@gmail.com;
• Social outreaches – “Sweep the city” clean-up events will take place and there will be drug awareness campaigns in some schools
• Prayer – Prayer networks from across the city are praying for the City Fest. Churches are encouraged to mobilise members to form a prayer and fast chain, which started September 24 and will end on 2 November. Daily prayer points are shared for each day on Facebook. The Love Cape Town City Fest will be something for the whole family with various activities throughout the day. Each festival will start at 9.15 with kids’ games, lunch will be followed by action sport and a music programme will start after 2.30pm (3pm in the CBD). Guests will be allowed to bring their own picnic basket or will be able to buy food at the venue. The Festival details are:
