THE WOLF OF WALLSTREET

WARNING: Explicit Content

wolfofwallstreetI went to watch this movie with my wife, and at times I was left feeling rather awkward during numerous explicit scenes. Sitting next to us was a group of elderly people who were in shock more than half of the duration of the movie, with uncomfortable gasps and continuous muttering among them.

This 3-hour feature film is based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his fall involving crime, drugs, corruption and the federal government. The movie is another well-directed movie by acclaimed director, Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas, Gangs of New York). Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Johan Hill, Margot Robbie and Matthew McConaughey, you are sure to get world-class performances…if you can stomach the profanity!

My major concern for movie-goers is the amount of explicit content including multiple nude and sex scenes, extremely foul language and excessive use of drugs and alcohol. I wouldn’t recommend watching this movie and would encourage you to rather spend your money on more morally sound movies like, The Secret Life of  Walter Mitty.

CHRISTIAN MOVIE

ROGUE SAINTS

roguesaints1We all know the saying, “God works in mysterious ways”, and this is the core message you will get from a very well produced action comedy.

Dove Review:
This film shows that the Lord can move into our life situations if we allow him to.

The movie is about two best friends who hear about a rich woman who attended church and they learn at her passing that there was a diamond as big as a fist buried under the baptismal tank of a church. The two decide to try to find it as they both are poor.

The young men stereotype Christians and try to avoid them. They later realize the people of the church are really kind and they experience God’s love through the people. Eventually the young men make a fateful decision.

We are awarding our Dove Seal to this movie for all ages, but want to note the very young may find it slow moving. For those a bit older this realistic story offers themes of change, hope, and the power Christ can make available to a life surrendered to him.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would encourage you to buy the DVD to add to your collection.

  1. Excellent reviews by a Christian for Christians! We certainly know what we are letting ourselves in for through viewing each/any of these movies, thank you so much!

  2. Glad my wife and I went to see the Secret Life of Walter Mitty instead of the Wolf of Wall Street. We had a choice and knowing the history of the former movie, chose that and your review definitely confirms we did the right thing. Thanks. You also might want to check out our son’s web site as he has a film company. It is: http://www.thfilms.net. Blessings!

  3. I honestly don’t see why you even entertain the die hards, and wolves of wall street. These are known to be of the world. And what does our Bible state? “Be not of this world..”

I just don’t understand it, why would anyone want to even sit in the same movie house as a film that takes our Lords name in vain? Why would you want to do that? Same with the music that ‘Christians’ listen to, it’s far from Biblical. Who cares if it has a catchy beat and whatnot. It is not for us to enjoy. We are set apart, we have our own entertainment. Would Christ put Himself in a cinema, knowing full well that they would curse, have sex, and the like? Would He sit and just push those aside, but enjoy the rest? No He would not. He would turn the place over. And this is how we as believers should act. Enough of the world having their foothold on society.

  4. The point of The Wolf of Wall Street is not to glamorize the lifestyles portrayed. This would be a shallow understanding of the film. It actually calls on you to think deeply about how wealth makes one morally depraved and how a life lived without God is just one big hedonistic, evil mess. In that sense this is a good movie to see in that it serves as a warning to “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it” (Matthew 7:13)
