Naidoo calls on ‘real men’ to march against rape

Errol Naidoo, Director of the Family Policy Institute.

Family Values activist Errol Naidoo has called for 10 000 men to join a ‘Real Men March’ against rape and violence in Cape Town on Saturday, March 16.

The march will start at 10h00 from Kaizergacht Street, opposite the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and will end at Parliament where a list of demands will be handed to an inter-ministerial committee that has been set up by Government to find solutions to the high level of rape and violence against women and children in South Africa.

In his weekly newsletter, Naidoo says his Family Policy Insitute and the Christian Church are organising the march which will be led by pastors.

“I have also invited high profile men in society to speak to the media and make the call for urgent and decisive action from government.
A senior Church leader will also lead the men in a “vow” to restore and fulfil the roles of men as protectors and providers in their homes and to hold other men in society accountable to this,” he says.

In a video promoting the march it is noted that a woman is raped every 4 minutes in South Africa, with 64 000 women raped a year. And 25 000 children, some as young as 10 months old are raped annually.
