NIV Adventure Bible gets kids engaged in God’s Word

adventureBibleBook Review by Angela Verreynne

NIV ADVENTURE BIBLE — Zondervan Publishers, 2013

By the age of 10, our children are ready to dig into other meaty parts of the scripture that are not normally covered in the Bible story books they have been reading. The Adventure Bible is a wonderfully packaged version of God’s Word where they can deepen their knowledge of this treasured gift. With colourful inserts and interesting topical guides, my son of 10, has begun to read the Bible like a storybook, prompting questions he will not have thought before to ask-which is great:)!!!

Being the NIV version, it is easily understood by a child and has many fun features. ‘Words to Treasure’ are great memory verses to learn as a family and ‘Life in Bible times’ and ‘Maps’ will tweak the interest of little historians as well as just give your child a background of what life was like for Bible characters. The ‘Dictionary-concordance’ gives explanations for words your child may not understand, and the ‘Activities’ pages help bring the printed word to life in practical ways.

These are only a few of the features, but mostly I believe exposing our children at a young age to the full Bible, will prompt them to engage with God on a deeper level from early, and as they are trained up in the way they should go, we trust they will not depart from it.
