Sunday October 2 is International Life Chain Sunday and South African Christians are invited to take a stand for the right to life of pre-born babies by participating in the National March for Life in Durban, or in Life Chains in other centres.
On previous Life Chain Sundays, up to one million Christians in over 1 400 locations worldwide have taken such a stand for life, says Africa Christian Action — adding that more than 1.3-million babies have been killed through abortion in South Africa since February 1, 1997 – legally.
The National Alliance for Life, an umbrella body representing various pro-life organisations in South Africa, says the aim of the National March for Life starting at 2.30pm on October 2, from opposite the fire station at Umhlanga Rocks, is to inform Christians about when life begins and what abortion really is, to inspire them to take a pro-life stand, to encourage mothers in crisis pregnancy centres not to abort their babies, to persuade medical personnel to exercise their right of freedom of conscience, and to educate voters and political parties about the abortion issue.
People joining the march are asked to take note that no banners with abortion images will be allowed to be displayed at the event. Participants are welcome to bring their own banners with positive pro-life messages. More information is available by contacting: 032-481-5550 or mail@dfl.org.za.
