Sing for the King 2014 launched

After a highly successful debut in 2013, the Sing for the King (S4K) 2014 competition initiated by Cape Christian community radio station, CCFM, kicked off in Cape Town this week with many hopefuls eyeing the prize of a full 8 track album, a photo-shoot and a website. Five runners-up will walk away with a free recording for a single track.

The competition is aimed at providing raw local talent with a platform to showcase their talent and achieve their dreams of being a gospel artist. This year the competition will not be limited to radio and will also be covered by community television, C-TV.

While the auditions are free of charge, no instruments and backtracks are allowed, except acoustics. Groups are welcomed to enter but are only allowed a maximum number of five members. The strict competition rules stipulates that only gospel songs may be sung and participants must be unrecorded artists over the age of 6 with no recorded single or album previously distributed publicly.

Last year’s grand finale took place at His People Centre, N1 City, where the creativity, stage presentation and talent of Asiphe Ntanjana impressed the judges, and secured him the position of the event’s first overall winner. Lance Klassen, Pearl Jones, Peace Within, Daveen Pasjaar, and duo, Blanche and Whitney, were all single album winners.

All auditions will take place from 3pm to 9pm during the month of July. It will be held in Mitchell’s Plain on the 11th, Gugulethu on the 12th, Bonteheuwel on the 18th, Hanover Park on the 19th, Langa on the 25th, and Kraaifontein on the 26th.
