The Soweto Gospel Choir will hold a benefit concert for Bible translation in Johannesburg to help translate the Word of God into the remaining 100 languages in Southern Africa.

Wycliffe SA, a Bible translation organisation, is hosting the concert at the Wanderers Club on Saturday September 2 2017 at 3pm and 7pm. The full price of tickets to see the Grammy Award-winning choir will go directly to Bible translation. Ticket prices start at R150 per person.

The Reformation started 500 years ago, when Martin Luther translated the whole Bible into German. Until then, the Bible was almost exclusively available only in Latin and only senior church members could understand and interpret it.

“While the Bible has been translated into many languages since then, it still needs to be translated into more than 100 languages in Southern Africa. Wycliffe believes they have waited long enough and we are holding the concert to raise funds to speed up the process,” says Karen Floor, CEO of Wycliffe South Africa.
