Founded by Jason Gabriel who is no stranger in local media and entertainment circles. His extensive CV includes radio host, business developer, event organiser, etc. Last year he was nominated in the Liberty Radio Awards in 2018 where he was in the same category as radio giants such as Mark Pilgrim.

His years of experience as a radio broadcaster are put to excellent use in organising the awards which are becoming a major event in NMB and across the Eastern Cape.

“My entire life is based on the foundation of God and I believe He has led me to great paths,” said Gabriel.

He said one of the objectives of the awards is “to promote morality and positive living through music and Christian activities as an alternative and positive entertainment”.

Jason Gabriel.

When asked about the motives and reasons behind the birth of the awards, he said: “Something extraordinary and supernatural transpired when the idea of hosting a Gospel awards was conceived in my mind. I was at a local Christian Radio Station having a conversation with a gentleman about something other than events.”

He said he believed that God intercepted that conversation. “A warm soft feeling came upon me with messages to recognise, appreciate and honour sons and daughters in the Gospel industry.”

By the end of the conversation with the gentleman and while engaging with his thoughts, the Spirit of God summoned his mind with a clear instruction to host a Gospel awards event.

The first Annual Gabriel Global Gospel Awards attracted many nominations from the city to highlight Gospel artists who have made a significant impact in the lives of people through their commitment and dedication to spreading the message of Jesus Christ through their ministry. The awards spotlighted 79 finalists to a dynamic audience of over one thousand people.

The awards are to recognise and celebrate those individuals who are working hard in their respective ministries. “This is not only for Gospel music, but also for ministries, gospel radio shows, presenters, etc.” said Gabriel.

This year, the awards received nominations from the Eastern Cape and Gauteng. Nominees include Best Gospel Choir: South African Development Choir, Best Community Outreach: Mryna van Wyk (Mrs Eastern Cape 2019), and Best Instrumental: Preggy Nadas.

Last year some of the category award winners were: Best Gospel Radio Presenter: Pastor Ronnie Johnson, Best Gospel Album: Thabo Namba, and Best Female Vocalist: Jessica Enyo-Ojo Edime.

With 13 categories and 83 nominations so far this year, the public has a chance to nominate gifted people who are working hard to spread the Gospel of Jesus. They can do so via WhatsApp or SMS. The Top 5 to 10 nominees that receive the most nominations in each category will advance to the finals.

Tickets are available from Jason Gabriel at R200 each. Dress code is strictly formal and the event will start at 6pm. For more information contact Gabriel on 076 624 7230
