The heart of ‘God’s Karoo Women Conference’

The great women of the Bible such as Esther, Ruth, Deborah and Mary the mother of Jesus, all have one very simple character trait in common: a surrendered heart. They each made themselves available for God to do His work in and through their lives and as a result the fate of families, nations and the world was changed forever!

This is the heart of the “God’s Karoo Women Conference” taking place on November 7 to 8, 2015 and the three women spearheading the organising of the conference have seen this truth manifesting in their own lives.

Feeling the need for a conference similar in stature and anointing to that of the Karoo Mighty Men’s Conference initiated by every South African Christian’s favourite Uncle, Angus Buchan, three friends in the area sought God’s face and heart regarding the holding of such a conference for women in the Karoo, where MMCs have been held in the past.

After much prayer and amazing confirmations, they availed themselves to God to use them in initiating such a Women’s Conference. Little did they know their modest plans would become such a huge event! With little more than a week left the fingerprints of God are all over their project. A bigger marquis tent than what they planned for, big screen TVs to make it easier for those in the back row to see the speakers on stage, as well as sponsorships coming from some of the most unexpected quarters, and greater numbers of registrations than expected, the total to date being about 990 women.

Extended deadline for registrations
Sonja Spies, the co-ordinator of the event, says that when the deadline for registrations arrived, they just didn’t have the heart to turn women away who might still want to register. “Unfortunately we will have to ask them to bring their own food with, since the registration deadline was mainly for the sake of the caterer’s preparations, but we will in no way turn anyone away until the very last day and we have reduced the registration fee to R100.00, self-catering,” Sonja said.

Above all that we dare ask or think
With great gratitude in her voice, Sonja listed testimony after testimony of how God came through for them and provided the necessary manpower, funding and expertise for every area of the arrangements for the conference.

“The organisers of the Mighty Men Conferences in our area have also been very helpful with much of the logistical questions we had and their input has been invaluable,” Sonja said. “We also experience that this conference for women carries the same anointing as that of the MMC – make yourself available for God to work and He will come in and take over.”

Listening to Sonja speak, I was reminded of Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams]…” — Amplified Bible.
