Sources have confirmed that the Michael W Smith South African Tour tickets are selling fast, with the Pretoria event almost fully sold out. The multi-platinum selling, Grammy award winning Christian artist will be on SA soil this month, kicking off his South African tour in Bloemfontein on May 25.
Smith will be visiting Durban on May 26, Cape Town on May 28, Johannesburg on May 29 and Pretoria on May 30.
Described as “an intimate evening of worship”, the worship event will feature songs from his new album, Sovereign – Smith’s first studio worship album since 2008 – and may also feature other popular songs penned by the Tennessee based worship leader, such as “Here I am to worship” and “Agnus Dei.”
To date, Smith has released 29 albums, which produced 31 number-one hit singles and sold more than 18 million copies, earning him a whopping 40 Dove awards.
As reported in Gateway News, he describes his new album as an opportunity to step into a new creative chapter and explained that the several young songwriters and producers who feature on it are an indication of the season he is in – one of freedom, where he is willing to take risks and step out of the musical box.
