‘Time stands still’ as milestone ‘2-hour’ prayer meeting stretches to 9 hours

Chief Justice Mogoeng encourages believers to trust God for fulfilment of prophecies

Last Sunday marked 100 Days since the launch of the Hope, Healing and Restoration campaign. In an interesting turn of events, this milestone day, which was also  49 days after Pentecost, was serendipitously ushered in by an online prayer meeting that had been scheduled for two hours but lasted almost 9 hours — from 6pm to around 2.45 am.

This day also happened to be the last day of three days of fasting that had been called by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng who leads the Hope, Healing and Restoration campaign. It was also the final day of a period from June 20 to July 20 during which marketplace minister Vuyokazi Matu prophesied that South Africa was breaking out of the wilderness, and in a timeframe which US prophet Chuck Pierce identified as a window where God was bringing comfort to His people and answers to their prayers — a period to expect to experience God’s supernatural interventions.

Sunday’s Zoom prayer meeting was a called by Pastor Heart, who had been teaching on the spiritual authority of the end-time army of God for a week, and felt that there was a need to bring prayers of repentance for the nation for rebellion against God’s authority at all levels of society.

While she acknowledged that prayers of repentance had been offered across the nation, she stressed that the levels of wickedness and rebellion required more prayer until there was a physical manifestation and fulfilment of the things the Lord had spoken.

Her call was also in line with the prayer points that Mogoeng had given for the three days of fasting from July 18 to 20, which were: prayers of repentance for personal, family, church, national and continental rebellion; for God to end the siege of all kinds; and for unity, revival healing and restoration.

To bring repentance on Sunday, a prophetic programme was compiled with people representing different government departments bringing specific repentance for the departure from the word of God by every government department.

Chief Justice Mogoeng led prayers for the three arms of the state  — the presidency, the legislature, and the judiciary on behalf of the head of state.

Apostle Linda Gobodo represented the executive. Other leaders stood for specific ministries and all cried to the Lord as they acknowledged that the departure from biblical principles of love, justice, mercy and righteousness have brought the current state of desolation the nation finds itself in — and time stood still. Everyone understood that for the supernatural intervention that South Africa needs now, there was a need to wait in the presence of the Lord.

This extended prayer time also brought to mind a meeting described in the biblical book of Nehemiah, where the nation stood for one-fourth of the day reading the word, and one fourth repenting for their sins, a total of 12 hours.

Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, and with [a]dust on their heads. 2 Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. 3 And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for one-fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the Lord their God. — Nehemiah 9:1-2

Now while Ezra was praying, and while he was confessing, weeping, and bowing down before the house of God, a very large assembly of men, women, and children gathered to him from Israel; for the people wept very bitterly. 2 And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, spoke up and said to Ezra, “We have trespassed against our God, and have taken pagan wives from the peoples of the land; yet now there is hope in Israel in spite of this. — Ezra 9:1-2

Dr Abu Bako, one of Ghana’s well-respected leaders and the founding president and international director of the Logos-Rhema Foundation For Leadership Resource Development, was also a speaker in the meeting who waited patiently for hours to release a message and prayer for South Africa. He is currently leading a global altar of 90 days of non-stop prayer, proclamation and praise for the fulfilment of the prophecy of Isaiah 19 concerning Africa.

He expressed gratitude to God for what He is doing in the nation and prayed Psalm 46:10 and Romans over the nation, saying it’s time to forget the past and enter a new season, and this required the mind to be transformed.

‘The greatest enemy to moving forward is the familiar and present success,” said Bako. He called on South Africans to put behind every attachment to the familiar and forget the past, challenging everyone not to adjust to their cultures without even thinking about it, but to instead embrace a Kingdom culture.

In many ways what unfolded on Sunday was a fulfilment of a prophetic word given by the late Kim Clement in 2008. It speaks of a season we are in, where there will be great confusion in the government, escalation on crimes and death and suddenly the body Christ standing up. A season where there will be increased levels of prayer in the nation.

“By the month of May there will be a shaking in the supernatural and many churches will have prayer meetings right through the night says the Lord, will be an unstoppable revival of prayer, ushering in one of the greatest moves that the earth has ever seen in the nation of South Africa. Therefore get ready says the Lord. Get ready! Get ready! Get ready!” — Kim Clement 2008.

At the end of Sunday’s online prayer meeting Mogoeng prayed for everyone to covenant with the Lord for the fulfilment of every prophecy spoken over their lives and the nation. He urged people not to rely on their understanding or to try figure out how God will perform his word, but to just hold on to the word and trust God to perform it in his time.

While it may appear that the prayer event was a well planned way to usher in the 100th day of the Hope, Healing and Restoration campaign, none of it was planned. It was only after the prayer that the leaders made the connection, that this prayer took place on the eve of the first 100 days since Mogoeng accepted responsibility to lead the Church in bringing hope, healing and restoration to the nation and continent.

“We were just being obedient to God and the leading of the Holy Spirit, little did we know this marked such an important milestone of this project of the Lord, and it is clear He is in control. We look back with gratitude over what God has accomplished for the nation and the continent over these 100 Days,” said Linda Gobodo.
