Witbank 4 Jesus Festival aims to unite Christians in fun and outreach

witbank4JesusThe Witbank 4 Jesus Festival, an initiative which was restarted in 2009, will take place on Saturday, August 2, on the sports fields of Curro Bankenveld Private School from 14h00.

The event calls local churches to stand united for Jesus and will include a host of fun activities such as Christian arts and crafts, food stalls and a play area for children.

A highlight this year is the inclusion of worship musician Retief Burger who has achieved a number of Gold and Platinum releases and SAMA awards since the release of his debut album in 2005. Burger leads an Every Nation church in Pretoria and is involved with life changing youth ministry as he shares the truth of Jesus. He is also known as an inspiring worship leader at Mighty Men Conferences. Burger says of himself: ‘Jesus lover, disciple maker, songwriter, pastor, hunter.’ Some of his most popular songs are: ‘Daar Is Niks;’ ‘Wonderbare Koning;’ ‘Kom Jesus Kom;’ ‘One Life’ and ‘Face to Face.’

Committee members are going to great lengths to advertise the event, including arranging for a group of Christian bikers to ride through the streets of Witbank on the morning of the Festival to encourage people to attend. The bikers will lead a host of vehicles mounted with banners and loudspeakers, with the hope of livening up the city. Volunteers will make every effort to ensure that the message is clear: It’s time for Christians to unite!

Committee member, Herman Cronje, said: “We aim to reach the young and the lost in eMalahleni. There is a big drug problem and Jesus is the only way out. We want to tell everyone in the city that Jesus loves them just the way they are but He surely doesn’t want them to stay lost and without hope.”

The Witbank 4 Jesus Festival entrance fee is R50 for persons over the age of 6 years old.
Tickets are  available, from Curro School or Hoërskool General Hertzog, and at Computicket.
