Youth prayer meeting at Newlands Rugby Stadium “can restore peace in SA”

ytauniteThe Youth Transformation Africa (YTA) prayer meeting at Newlands Rugby Stadium on April 27 can restore pace in South Africa and become a vehicle for transformation of the youth on the continent, says Kyle Driver, the visionary of the event on Freedom Day.

He says the #YTAUNITE prayer event was organised as a response to a God-given vision for revival of the youth in South Africa and the rest of Africa, and to call the youth of the Western Cape to turn the tide against violence and crime and to commit themselves to peaceful transformation of their own peers and society at large.

“But we also believe it will restore peace in South Africa and stop the wave of xenophobic violence if we unite in prayer, like we did after the Day of Repentance and Prayer [at Newlands Rugby Stadium] in 2001,” he says.

Mi Casa, one of South Africa’s most celebrated bands, will play at #YTAUNITE  scheduled to start at 14:00.

Farmer-evangelist and Mighty Men movement founder Angus Buchan will also address the crowd on Freedom Day.

Buchan says the biggest problem in SA is its fatherless generation.

“Satan wants to destroy families but God wants to use the youth as young leaders to build a nation. The family is only as strong as the nation is,” he says.

He says youth are hungry to hear the truth.

Driver says there is a similarity between the YTA event on April 27 and the historic gathering at the same venue in March 2001 when 45 000 Christians united for a day of repentance and prayer.

The March 2001 event gave rise to the annual Global Day of Prayer which spread to all 220 nations of the world over a decade.

Driver says the organisers of #YTAUNITE “want to return to the peace we had in 2001” after the day of prayer at Newlands Rugby Stadium which “transformed lives and was reflected in a changing and more peaceful city in the months following the meeting”.

Tickets for the event at R45 are available on Computicket.

  1. During prayer for our nation at our service today, i saw red smoke rising from the stadium and had the impression of a massive bonfire on the field… the size of the field. Each one who came was adding their paraffin to the blaze. God is going to hear the cry of his people. I believe it will be incredibly significant as a catalyst for Gods intervention and to ignite his church for the revival that we are expecting.
