Money and the Prosperous Soul conference in Joburg, Cape Town

Many believe that the key to a healthy financial life is linked to following practical tools and a list of “dos and don’ts”. Although there are benefits to following certain financial principles, this approach is fundamentally flawed,  as a healthy financial life begins with the soul, says Stephen De Silva, from Bethel Church in Redding California.

“If we do not first address our hearts and mindsets regarding money, we end up repeating the same destructive cycles that caused us to start trying to change in the first place,” says international teacher De Silva who will be conducting Money and the Prosperous Soul conferences in Johannesburg and Cape Town this month.

The Johannesburg conference is taking place on August 8 and 9 at Breakthru Life Church in Weltevreden Park, and the Cape Town event is on August  15 and 16 at Journey of Grace Church in Tyger Valley.

De Silva’s ministry was founded in 2003, after the Lord spoke to him over five years on how to teach and train the church how to move past the “tools” of how to manage money, into having capacity to carry wealth.

With a unique approach and witty personality, De Silva has sought to develop a Spirit-filled, biblically-based ministry that brings true financial healing. From this place of health and purpose, people can begin to live the prosperous life Jesus promised them when He said he came to give us life and life abundantly (John 10:10).

During the two-day conferences, De Silva will teach on the broad subject of stewardship using his unique approach to wealth. Biblical truth, fresh revelation and prophetic acts will provide attendants with new levels of breakthrough overcoming the spirit of poverty, the spirit of mammon, and many mysteries of riches and wealth.

John Crumpton from Breakthru Life identified the need that South Africans have to be freed from financial bondage, which led him to invite De Silva to South Africa. “We see so many Christians and families ‘stuck’ due to wrong mindsets around money and feel that this teaching is pivotal to seeing lasting freedom in this area,” says Crumpton.

“We are so grateful that Cape Town will be exposed to this incredible teaching and trust that many will experience breakthrough in the area of finances and start their journey into financial freedom,” shares Ben Bennot, pastor of Journey of Grace. “We invite anyone and everyone who would like to find freedom and maximise their potential in the area of finances, to join us!”

Sozo South Africa is co-hosting the conference with Journey of Grace Church, as the material forms the foundation of the Financial Sozo Ministry, which is a development out of the Basic Sozo Ministry.

  1. “Men of corrupt minds have been robbed of the truth thinking that godliness is a means of financial gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain. If we have food and clothing we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction, For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of god, flee from all this and pursue righteousness. godliness, faith, love endurance and gentleness.” (1 Timothy 6:5-11).
