Da Timothy Code grabbed and held my attention because, with church history as a major at university, I had taught church history at the Union Bible Institute. I had given special emphasis to the churches from which my African students came. I gained many new insights from Chuck’s book.
Alongside this has been my passion for Integrity as the inhibitor of the corruption so rampant in South Africa (and the world) these days. My book “Corruption –the Inside Story” (which is “Greed” inside the human heart) meant that Chuck’s book resonated deeply with me. It is a most relevant book. He exposes the lack of Integrity – the Greed – even in some church leaders, and which is addressed by Paul’s letter to Timothy, from which Da Timothy Code draws its motivation.
Da Timothy Code speaks to the sin of Greed in a redemptive way. Those who worship money (“mammon”, in the vocabulary of Jesus) would be motivated to change their ways, and adopt a simpler lifestyle. This will not be easy, because the grip of greed is growingly tenacious. The book brings Jesus into the equation, which makes it possible.
