‘Gospel walker’ gets two wheels

Edward Pozyn in Touws River, Western Cape at the start of his cycle ride to KwaZulu-Natal.

Edward Pozyn is back on the long road again but this time he is on a mountain bike that was given to him on the West Coast where he was resting after a 1 400km walk from Howick, Kwa-Zulu Natal to the Western Cape where he delivered a prophetic scroll that was given to him in Bloemfontein.

He said the bicycle, which had been sitting in a garage for 21 years but is in great shape, was given to him by “Aunty Zyla” (Zyla Fourie-Kritziger), who hosted him at her guesthouse in Yzerfontein during his rest.

“The bike has been such a blessing,” said Edward who at the time of writing has reached Beaufort West, on his way back to Howick.

“I had about an 11, 12 hour ride yesterday but it was ok and tomorrow I am leaving for Three Sisters,” he said.

He said that in his recent Gospel treks — something he has been doing regularly since Jesus rescued him in 2011 when he was destitute — God has met all his needs through donations from supporters.

His most recent walk took a surprising turn in Bloemfontein, when Andre Venter of the House of Bread asked him to carry a scroll, which carries a message about revival and the return of Jesus linked to Malachi 4:5,6, to the Western Cape.

On Pentecost Sunday he joined a group of apostolic, prophetic and governmental leaders and Revival Fire planning team members on top of Table Mountain in a time of prayer at which the scroll was released and passed on virtually to partners in the west and east of Africa, Cairo, Israel and nations across the world.

He said his assignment with the scroll was “more than I ever expected in my life”.

Before embarking on his cycle journey back to KZN he said the House of Bread commissioned him to carry copies of the scroll with him for giving to churches along the way.

He said while the cycling, which he began last Thursday, was tough at first he was getting used to it. He said the journey on his own was just what he needed — “incredible time alone with the Lord”.

He said that in small towns he passed through he saw signs of drug abuse and gangsterism. When he stopped he shared his testimony with people — especially young people — about wrong decisions he had made in life and how God has given him freedom and purpose.

He said he does not have a house or a place to stay when he gets to Howick but he knows that the Lord will make a way. During his ride he has been communicating with three pastors in Howick about his dream of starting a rehabilitation centre for young people — “to counsel them and share the real Gospel”.

“We have got to take responsibility as people who love our country and the Lord. We have got to consider these children as our children as well and do what we have to do. Otherwise future generations are going to sit with this problem,” he said.
