‘Heal our land’ campaign launched to unite SA Christians in 7 days of prayer

Every day from Wednesday July 14 until Tuesday July 20 you can join a powerful hour of united online prayer for South Africa from 12pm to 1pm led by different prayer leaders across the country.

The campaign was birthed after prayer leaders Graham Power and Bennie Mostert contacted other SA prayer leaders on Tuesday and shared their conviction that a coordinated prayer response was needed to unite as many South African Christians as possible to pray together for an hour a day at a time the nation is dealing with looting, lawlessness and rising Covid infections.

You can join in the daily prayer hour on Facebook Live (Global Voice of Prayer Facebook page) or on Youtube (Global Voice of Prayer channel). Prayer points and more information about the campaign, which is supported by multiple of SA prayer networks and ministries, are available online at: Heal our Land – Global Voice of Prayer

The theme for the week is 2 Chronicles 7:14 — ..if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

On each of the seven days of prayer, leaders will focus on one of the seven different components of the theme verse as follows:

Day 1 – If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves

  1. This popular and important verse 14 is the word of our Sovereign God set against His claim in verse 13 to be personally responsible for sending the disaster and plague (think ‘Covid-19). The only difference between ‘Then in Israel’ and ‘Now the Church Age’ is this: Israel owned a specific land, but God has not given any “land” or “country” to the Church (Hebrews 13:14). But the v13 principle of humble repentance is universal, even if the promise of “healing a specific land” does not apply to us today. Let us humbly and repentantly pray for the Lord’s healing mercy on our nation 1 Timothy 2:2,3 so that the Gospel be freely proclaimed and people “be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth”
