SA songwriter Stefan Green releasing solo single, ‘Battlefield’

South African songwriter Stefan Green who has co-written songs such as Grateful and I Can’t Believe with Elevation Worship, Steve Furtick and Chris Brown is releasing his first solo single ‘Battlefield‘ on Friday.

A worship leader at Hillsong South Africa, Stefan went to school in Cape Town and college in the United States. In addition to co-writing the Elevation songs which have had more than nine million views on Youtube alone, he has contributed to a GMA Dove Award worship album nomination with songs on Here As In Heaven and There Is A Cloud. He has also recently worked on a new release with Brandon Lake and London Gatch.

Commenting on his first step into solo performance after a decade of writing songs for others to play, he says: “My internal battles have held me back too long for me not to start a public journey and see others set free. You also have a story to tell, a reality that’s hard to face, but I also know that if you’re willing to surrender it, there’s a Companion waiting to lift the load and finish the journey with you.”

On the song itself, he says: “The song Battlefield took form while walking through seasons in life where I felt as if God’s hand on my life would expire. But time proved His love more that I had ever known before and proved me wrong. I finally realised during the battles that when conflict feels at its worst, He’s not anywhere beside by my side.

“I’ve learnt that the battlefield is not a place of defeat but of new beginnings. Like a volcano, a war van destroy byt it also can create th emost beautifuyl landxcapes and give way to new beginnings. The battlefied is a place of refining and equipping and less of a punishment as I had viewed it before.

“This song is for the ones walking through depression, anxiety, pain and trauma that hunts you no matter how hard you pray, sing or fast. I hope you walk away from this song and realise you have a companion on the battlefied, and the battlefield belongs to Him.”
