The “cruel and callous” assassination of Gauteng Health Department corruption whistle blower Babita Doekaran was aimed at silencing and frightening those “who still stand for integrity, ethical values and leadership”, says the Health Commission of The Evangelical Alliance of South Africa in a media. statement.
Commending the murdered senior finance official for standing for ethical leadership and against corruption and looting within the department, the statement, released by urges public servants and health care workers to follow her example.

“We pray for the arrest and successful prosecution of the actual masters of this evil act fuelled by greed and corruption,” says the statement which also calls for greater protection for whistle blowers.
“We are further praying for God to comfort the family and friends and to heal them from this pain and tragic loss.
Corruption is a crime against humanity, it undermines our country’s democratically elected government and perpetuates poverty and inequality. Our public institutions need to be rebuilt and strengthened, our constitutional democracy needs to be defended, whistle blowers need to be protected, corruption and looting must be fought from all corners,” concludes the statement.

I wholeheartedly endorse this Statement. I pray for the speedy resolution of this case. Many talk against Corruption, but the wheels of justice turn too slowly. And what are the consequences? Those guilty must ‘pay back the money’ and a fine (Exodus 22). A jail-term is too lenient, and costs the taxpayer even more money on top of what was looted. “Restitution” is the Biblical punishment, and also the punishment in African Traditional Law.
