Tens of thousands ‘saved’ in Ethiopian town, says SA evangelist

“Truly, Mudula has been shaken by the Gospel,” says Cape Town evangelist Tamryn Klintworth in a report on a 4-day crusade carried out by her In His Name Ministry team in the remote town among the mountains of south-western Ethiopia.

Despite a 6pm curfew due to ongoing security concerns people from the town and surrounds flocked to the crusade from Thursday January 27 to Sunday Janurary 30 and “tens of thousands of people were saved, deaf ears opened, paralytics walked and the demon possessed were liberated,” she says.

In His Name Ministries began winning souls for Jesus in Ethiopia in 2017 and since the implementation of Covid lockdowns in South Africa in 2020 has been conducting more evangelistic crusades in Ethiopia than in SA.

She told Gateway News their next crusade will be from March 3 to 6 in Burayu, a town that neighbours the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.

In her report on the MUdula campaign she says more than 40 000 pieces of follow-up material were distributed which is “extraordinary” in a town with “perhaps a population size of this many people”.

In one of her healing testimonies from Mudula she shares:”The Holy Spirit was hard at work during prayer for the sick. Eraugo had been paralysed for the past 17 years, his legs utterly useless. Family brought this 30-year-old man to our crusade and the Lord set him free from his affliction. Feeling and strength flooded back into his legs. ‘I am free!’ he exclaimed. ‘I have so much happiness!'”

On the last morning of the Mudula crusade she says: “We gathered with all evangelical churches in Mudula for a mass morning service on the crusade field. What a show of unity! Come afternoon, we awarded certificates of appreciation on stage to key pastors and ushers.”

Free copies of the Amharic version ofTamryn’s book Spirit of Fire, as well as copies of two Amharic translations of books by John Bevere, were given to 100 local evangelical leaders.

Throughout the crusade Tamryn taught extensively on the Holy Spirit and how to partner with Him to witness to the lost and pray for the sick. “By the time we prayed for the infilling of the Holy Spirit during our final service on the Sunday afternoon, everyone was read –ready to receive and ready to jump into evangelistic action!,” she reports.
