Angus Buchan calls for day of fasting, prayer for gang violence Mighty Men event

Farmer-evangelist Angus Buchan has called for a day of fasting and prayer on Friday October 30 — ahead of the historic Mighty Men Conference Cape Flats on Saturday November 1,

According to Radio Tygerberg 104 FM, which is hosting the event which aims to bring hope to men affected by longstanding, rampant, gang violence in the Cape Flats, registrations were expected to reach 16 000 before this evening. The first-ever Mighty Men Conference in the Cape Flats will take place at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town, from 2pm to 8pm on November 1. Men can register for free online at https://itickets.co.za/register/new/482747/

In an interview with Radio Tygerberg yesterday, Buchan said the Lord had woken him in the middle of the night and had “very strongly” laid on his heart the need to fast and pray for the event.

He said God gave him Scripture from Isaiah 58 for the Cape Flats MMC, as follows: 6“Is this not the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke.”  and 9“Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer. And you shall cry, and He will say, Here I am.”

Asked what type of fast he was calling for, Buchan said it would be up to each individual to decide on whether to do a water-only fast or to skip a meal or two. “It is about taking time out to concentrate on the things of God,” he said.

He said he is asking “the Mighty Men right around the world to be praying on that day — Mighty Men in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US of A, Brazil, England, Scotland, Namibia, Nigeria, Zambia, not to mention the Mighty Men Conferences in South Africa.”

Buchan, who is speaking at the Mighty Men Cape Flats event, said it breaks his heart to hear of children being caught in the crossfire of gang violence. “We are faced with a fatherless generation. That is the reason why this [violence] is happening. The young men don’t know how to be fathers. I’m coming there as a father. I’m not coming there to tell them what to do. I’ve got no political agenda. I’m coming there to say, boys, it’s time to listen to your Heavenly Father, because He wants to help you.”

He said men need to stand up for their wives and children now “and put that gun away and get back to God and see a revival that I am believing will start in the Cape. It’s been prophesied for how many years –and why not at the Cape Flats, and why not on the 1st of November? A fire that will go right through the continent of Africa.”

Buchan told Radio Tygerberg that Mighty Men Conferences were for the sake of women and children — but they were attended by men only “because we’re going to talk men things”.

“You see, when the men get together, then they take their masks off. Then they start speaking about real things — things like alcoholism, drug addiction, pornography, things like adultery, things like incest. All that stuff will be addressed.

“We know what these men, not just in the Cape Flats, are doing to women and children. It’s going to stop because God will not have it.”

Buchan challenged men, not only in Cape Town, but throughout SA, to attend the event. You can register online at https://itickets.co.za/register/new/482747.
