Bethel Church in Redding, California recently launched a new school dedicated to training up Christian programmers to impact one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. The school is a 24-week online “boot camp” that promises both technical and spiritual training.
In a video message, Bethel School of Technology CEO Ryan Collins explained the historic nature of this program.
“We are the first ever faith-based software development and in-demand technology boot camp,” Collins said. “We focus on four of the most in-demand programming languages in the world: Java, .NET, JavaScript and Ruby.”
According to City Councilwoman Julie Winter, in 10 years, science and technology jobs will make up 70 percent of the California job market. Bethel hopes to equip Christian programmers to enter that industry.
“Our whole focus is … to raise up the best and brightest developers and technologists who serve companies with excellence not only in what they do but who they are,” Collins said.
