Bible translators, publishers and distributors Biblica, are partnering with ministries in South Africa in a Bible Revival Project aimed at getting low-cost NIV Bibles into every community.
According to Paul Raper, director of Jonvia International Ministries which is partnering with Biblica in the Eastern Cape, the goal is to provide NIV Bibles at under R20 each to churches and other groups thereby making it affordable for them to give away Bibles where they were needed most.
Thanks to partners in transport services both small and large volumes of Bibles and other Bible-based resources were as far as possible being delivered free of charge all over South Africa, he said.
“I have visited a number of schools in parts of the Eastern Cape and have been saddened to see the lack of Bibles in the schools,” said Raper. He said the Bible Revival Project was aimed at addressing such problems.
Other low-cost resources included in the campaign were the NIrV Bible written especially for children, with an easy-to-read format and colour illustrations, and an innovative Soccer Bible which uses the theme of soccer to present the Gospel.
Sizeable discounts and personalisation of Bibles were available to churches and ministries that ordered in bulk, said Raper. “We encourage churches to buy in the thousands and to reach out with large scale distribution,” he said.
He said anybody interested in placing orders could contact him at jonvia@absamail.co.za or 084 603 5200. He would connect enquirers with distributors in their area.
