Bible verse bus hitting Glasgow streets

A bus with John 3:16 emblazoned across the back will soon be spreading the Good News around Glasgow, Scotlans, a Gospel outreach organisation has announced.

Hope by The Roadside announced the bus project, which will be the first of its kind in Glasgow city centre, and will travel across the greater Glasgow area carrying God’s “life changing message” with it.

The organisation plans to have an additional 15 buses featuring Bible verses on the roads in the coming weeks.

Hope by The Roadside had previously worked with Stagecoach, which was established by Christians, but was recently sold to different owners and rejected the outreach project. The company First Bus has taken up the campaign and approved the message for their buses.

Jenkinson said: “We had a long, happy relationship of displaying Bible verses with Stagecoach so we are hoping there will soon be a policy change!”

Spiritual transformation

A new report by student ministry Fusion titled What Do Today’s Students Think About The Bible? found that 12% of non-Christian students are reading the Bible every week – even if it is “as brief as glancing over a verse shared on social media”.

Fusion spokesperson, Adam Mitchell Baker, said: “The fact that the Bible still has relevance and truth today, that speaks to people”, he continued, explaining that “these ancient sacred words have outlived kingdoms and empires, and many different competing worldviews”.

Fusion’s goal is for every student in the UK to be reading a Bible. Mitchell Baker stated: “the potential opportunity for spiritual transformation offered by greater engagement with the Bible is huge”.
