Juno award winning Canadian songwriter, recording artist, author, conference speaker and pastor, Brian Doerksen is returning to South Africa by popular demand for a tour that includes the Western Cape and Johannesburg, reports Integrity Media Africa.
Doerksen will perform songs from his latest hit album ‘Level Ground’ as well as his previous gems ‘It’s Time’ and ‘Holy God’. Track after track, it is evident that this masterful lyricist and passionate musician has lavishly interwoven his heart, life and theology into song. Doerksen’s ‘It’s Time Tour’ tour in 2009 saw venues in South Africa bursting to the brim with thousands of fans inspired by his messages.
Accompanying Doerksen as a feature vocalist at both live events will be rising local star Courtney Jonas, who is known for incredible performances on the local hit TV show iShine Southern Starz, as well as musicals, Evita and High School Musical. Jonas has recently arrived home from Norway, where she has recorded alongside Loyiso Bala on the latest album ‘Awesome God’ by the world famous Oslo Gospel Choir.
Doerksen’s tour will kick off in Stellenbosch at the Shofar Conference from Thursday, September 29 until Sunday October 2. Another pioneering father of modern praise and worship, and Integrity artist Graham Kendrick (UK) who is known globally for penning songs like “Shine, Jesus Shine”, and “Amazing Love” will join Brian Doerksen in performing at the conference. Adding to the incredible artists line-up are South African Award winning worship band Proxy and Integrity’s exciting new signing, ShofarBand.
On the 4th October 2011, Johannesburg will be treated to yet another powerful live show from Doerksen at Rosebank Union Church in Hurlingham. The show will begin at 19h00 and tickets are R100.The audience will be treated to hit songs such as “Come, Now Is The Time To Worship,” “(Hallelujah) Your Love Is Amazing,” “Hope Of The Nations,” “You Shine” and “Refiner’s Fire.”
With six solo albums to his name and his incredible voice featuring on 26 compilation projects, Doerksen has received more awards than the amount of years he has been in music. Doerksen’s album sales continue to prove over and over again that he is one of the founding fathers of Modern Praise and Worship and is loved by all ages and races and is here to stay. It has been 22 years and Doerksen continues to climb the Christian music charts.
