The OM (Operation Mobilisation) team in Cape Town has opened an empowerment centre in the city on Long Street to provide the local church with opportunities to serve the nations in the city with the gifts God has given them.
Called Chanua, the new empowerment centre was officially opened on Tuesday, April 28.
“The main goal of this event was to celebrate God’s providence, to present the vision and to invite believers, churches and other organisations to partner. There was a good turnout at the opening and a real sense of excitement of what God has done and is going to do,” OM Cape Town Hub Leader, Marcus Spronk.
The vision of Chanua is to serve and love the many nations that God has placed on our doorstep in all areas of life, he says. Chanua distinguishes four areas: spiritual, relational, professional and physical. The goal is that people who serve and are being served will come to thrive (meaning of the Swahili word ‘chanua’) in life. To thrive in life is to ‘know God, to be known by Him and to make Him known’
OM sees their own role at Chanua as that of facilitator and coach. Their desire is to see the local Church come and serve the nations in Cape Town with the gifts that God has given them. The first partnerships have already been made!
