About 250 Christian dance enthusiasts of all ages, from all over South Africa are expected to take part in the 7th national Christian Dance Fellowship SA conference in Cape Town from Wednesday July 19 to Saturday July 22.
The theme of the conference is “From the Inside Out” and dances performed during the week will reflect this theme, which recognises that God wants to transform us from the inside out ( (Romans 12:1 , 2) and that what is in our hearts will show in our dance, say the organisers.
CDFSA is associated with the International Christian Dance Fellowship (ICDF) and joint international coordinator Saartjie de Wet, Nigerian ICDF leader Babalola Abiodun, and network leader for dance teachers Beth Bluett, from Australia, will all be at the conference.
The conference will be held at the UCT School of Dance, and there will be public presentations on the Thursday and Friday evenings at Every Nation Church Retreat.
All conference attendees wanting to perform in the evening sessions will need to audition on Wednesday frobetween 2pm and 5pm. Dance items should not be longer than five minutes and full costumes must be worn at auditions.
A goal of the conference is to provide youth with skills which they can take back to their church dance groups and communities.
Anybody who is interested in learning more about Christian dance in all its forms may attend. Children may attend the children’s conference which will run concurrently with the adult conference.
Participants can register online at www.cdfsa.co.za. Age categories are: Children: 3-12-years-old (R500), adults: 13-59-years-old (R750), pensioners: 60-years-old + (R500).
