Church team launching book that probes essence of true beauty

From the left are Garth van Niekerk, Rob Lucas and Waldo van den Berg, who are members of the pastoral team at The Fellowship Church, Melkbosstrand, Cape Town as well as three of the nine co-authors of a new book called Beauty.

“It looks good!” we might say.

“It sure is impressive. It’s excellent, creative, grand and chic…”

But is it beautiful?

What defines beauty?

Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder? Or does our Creator get to decide if it makes the cut?

Within an ever degrading standard of beauty in a corrupt culture, it is essential that we delve into the essence of true beauty, which has its roots firmly founded in our Beautiful God.

Over the past year, nine members from The Fellowship church in Melkbosstrand have probed this topic of beauty in terms of music, art, stories, godly relationships, self image, interior design and hospitality. Together they wrote a book which will be launched at a conference day on Saturday September 2, at their church.

The co-authors are Tania de Clerk, Mignonne Henning, Riekert Joubert, Shane Knock, Rob Lucas (senior pastor), Waldo van den Berg (associate pastor), Garth van Niekerk (associate pastor), Adam Whitehouse and Karel Willems

The launch event will be a day for the whole family to enjoy. While the authors will host talks on their different chapters, there will be live concerts surrounded by food stalls as well as stalls featuring beautiful products and services from the community.

Kids can enjoy craft sessions, games and entertainment, and parents can pre-book catering for high tea and lunch.
