Church urged to get behind national day of prayer for revival at FNB stadium in March 2025

Plans are in motion to host a Christian national day of prayer and repentance at Africa’s largest football stadium – the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg on Saturday March 22 next year.

The focus of the “Awakening South Africa National Day of Prayer and Repentance” event will be on revival and “on God pouring His Spirit on South Africa in order to give us a new nation”, said Janet Brann-Hollis of SA Back to God, a member of the organising team.

She urged church leaders to make block bookings at the stadium when ticket sales are expected to open in mid January – and to bring their people to the prayer day.

“It is about leaders and churches coming together for the nation. We can’t look to the government. It is time for the Church to stand up and take its role,” she said.

Bran-Hollis said that the visionary of the event, businesswoman Rachel Kalidass had sensed a calling from God to organise the stadium prayer day after she had dreams and prophetic confirmation about revival and God’s plans for South Africa.

The stadium has been booked for the day and some speakers who promote revival are already on board – among them African Enterprise founder Michael Cassidy, Apostle Nicky van der Westhuizen and some leaders associated with a historic revival in Sharpeville.

Bran-Hollis said that Kalidass is spearheading fundraising in South Africa and abroad to cover the costs of the initiative. Companies, churches or individuals who would like to contribute to the costs can contact her at 082 418 3805 or email her at Rachel.Kalidass@gmail.com.

A prayer day website will be launched at the end of the month at www.prayerandrepentance.co.za.
