The City Connect 50 Days of Prayer initiative for the 2026 South African local government elections will go live on the popular YouVersion Bible app from Friday September 4.
App users will be able to select a plan (See link: https://www.bible.com/en/reading-plans/76318) that will give them access to daily prayer points for the campaign which runs from September 12 to November 3, leading into the elections on November 4. The prayer points are available in English, Afrikaans, IsiXhosa and Isizulu.
Gateway News will also be posting daily prayer points throughout the campaign which aims to unite believers in towns and cities across South Africa in a structured daily journey of Scripture, prayer and proclamation as they seek God’s direction for the nation and contend for revival in SA’s towns and cities.

Invitation to sow into the campaign
Rachel Kalidass, visionary leader of Awakening South Africa, Prayer and Repentance Movement has extended an invitation to individuals, churches, ministries, Christian businesses, corporate organisations and other partners who believe in the City Connect prayer vision to prayerfully consider sowing into the movement.

“Our desire is not merely to organise an event, but to help cultivate a movement of prayer, repentance, reconciliation, unity and spiritual awakening across our nation,” she says.
She says the target budget to be funded is R1 million, for venue setup costs; catering, refreshments and beverages; photography, videography and livestreaming; technical and production requirements; travel and logistical requirements; marketing, communications and media; printing and campaign materials; national campaign coordination and administration; digital platforms and online communication; prayer resources and promotional material; outreach and mobilisation; and other operational costs.
