DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR? SONGS OF CHRISTMAS

One of the things that I particularly enjoy about the Christmas season is the music – to my mind some of the traditional carols remain the most inspiring music we have. I am not talking about “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer” and such-like as played in supermarkets from October, a practice which has given Christmas carols a bad name in general.

This compilation of Christmas music tracks from Christian artists is one which should do much to dispel any such dislike of the genre.

The album includes a good number of old favourites, some by familiar artists (Oh Come All Ye Faithful – Casting Crowns), as well as new recordings and new artists. The title track Do You Hear What I Hear? by Anthem Lights is particularly lovely.

Tenth Avenue North brings new life to Deck The Halls and the Rhett Walker Band do well in a new recording of the beautiful O Come O Come Emmanual.

Also new and somewhat special is the last track – Rescue (Oh Holy Night) by The Royal Royal. I also loved the track Oh Holy Night by Kerrie Roberts and then there is ……..well, come to think of it I enjoyed it all! Do yourself a favour and take a listen. After all those supermarket renditions you might just be very pleasantly surprised to rediscover the beauty of Christmas music!
