Two months into the Zimbabwe stretch of his Cross Walk Africa walk from Cape Town to Jerusalem, evangelist Reini Coetzee, says crowds of people attracted by the cross he is wheeling, are slowing down his journey.
“Sometimes it is overwhelming. But I enjoy sharing with the people. They’ve got open hearts here. They’re humble. They’re warm, lovely people. They see the cross as a beacon of hope and we’re trusting that change will come.”
“In South Africa I used to cover between 15 to 20km a day. It has really slowed down, because of the people. Buses stop and everybody gets out. And then we talk for about 40 minutes to an hour,” Reini explained during a telephonic interview.

Since entering Zimbabwe he says he has seen how God has been preparing the way for him — putting people in place. “I could never have done it alone.” Shortly after he crossed into Zimbabwe, Pastor Cleverton Kunjuta and Chaplain Brian Teputepu reached out to him, organised a support vehichle for him and committed to accompany him throughout his time in Zimbabwe.
God also provided Apostle Israel Nyamupfukudza vice president of the Apostolic Bishops Network (ABN) to assist him with extending his Zimbabwean visa twice and to arrange his police clearance and a police escort through Harare, which he will enter on Friday.
“And there are already people in place, with vehicles and everything in Mozambique and Malawi,” said Reini. He said this invaluable support came about through missionaries he met on the road in SA who are from Mozambique and Malawi.
Pastor Kunjuta, who was with Reini, told me that in the two months he has been with him: “I’ve seen the work of the Lord — miracles happening, healings taking place, where we pray for people. It was so wonderful, God is touching people through the cross.”
Apostle Israel, who was also with Reini, said the ABN executive had decided to support Reini. He expected that it would take two to three days for him to get through Harare with his police escort. He said he was thankful to God for touching and changing people’s live through the cross walk mission in Zimbabwe. It was even uplifting his own spiritual life.

This is very commanding in that it captures the imagination of those who see the cross being walked physically.

Johan asked of the Lord if he may carry out this ministry in Israel and low and behold, most recently, someone purchased tickets for him and his wife to Israel and all they are seeking to secure now is believers in Israel who will accommodate them during their stay.
