Extra life for every circumstance

Angus Buchan title[notice]A monthly column by farmer, preacher and writer  for Jesus, Angus Buchan[/notice]

A month ago we celebrated the Easter season. I am amazed again at how quickly the time is passing us by. This Easter was very special for me and for my family as we spent time together. Good Friday, for me, is the most important day in the Christian calendar. Quite simply, because if Jesus had not died for our sins, there would be no resurrection and no hope. Easter Sunday is truly a joyous time! There is that beautiful scripture in Romans 8:11 (NKJV), “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

Wonderful news
We have hope in Jesus, irrespective of what the government says or does not say, irrespective of who is in power or who is not in power. One thing we know, if we believe in Jesus Christ, He has promised us that the same Spirit that raised Him out of the tomb, will also give life to our mortal bodies. That is wonderful news, so we do not need to fear. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV), “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” It is such an honor to belong to God. You see, we are not of this world, although we are in this world. We need to understand we are sojourners, we are simply passing through, we are travelers in a foreign land. We need to make the most of it while we are here. Our names are written down in the Lamb’s Book of Life, if we love Jesus. We need to live as good and profitable citizens, but we need to know that our end reward is still waiting for us in Heaven.

They asked a famous man once, if he knew Jesus was coming back tomorrow what would he do today? He answered that he would plant an apple tree. In other words, he would carry on as usual. They asked John Wesley what he would do if he knew the Lord was coming the following day and he said, “Well in the morning, I have a prayer meeting at nine o’clock and then at eleven o’clock, I have a council meeting and then I am preaching in the afternoon. In other words, he will continue living each day, a day at a time. We need to do the same, but we need to remember one thing. Romans 8:31 (NKJV), “If God is for us, who can be against us?” If God is for us, there is no man that will ever stand against us, so we can rejoice irrespective of what happens. If we live, we live for God, if we die, we go Home to Heaven. Is it not wonderful news!

So may God bless you richly as you continue to allow the Holy Spirit to guide you, to strengthen you, to give you courage and to give your body extra life.
