It’s been called “the South African cinema experience of the year” — “a film that makes you laugh, cry and feel every emotion in between”.
Jan du Plessis, head of MNet Movies says it’s, “one of the best films to come out of SA in the last 20 years!”
Beyond the River – the story of two lives; one journey appropriately opens in Ster Kinekor cinemas nationwide on Freedom Day Thursday April 27 at at NuMetro cinemas the day before, on Wednesday April 26.

“What better way to celebrate our freedom than to take our families and friends to watch this film? It sounds like it’s exactly what we need in South Africa right now,” say award-winning NGO Heartlines and Quizzical Pictures which have brought this must-see movie to the big screen.
The film is part of a broader campaign called “What’s your story?” that encourages South Africans to share their stories with each other in a way that will encourage trust and understanding in the hope of healing divisions in our country.
