Friends in Sync hosting Gospel-worship live recording in Gqeberha

Friends in Sync at All White Worship Festival, September 2025

A collective of young Gospel musicians known as Friends In Sync is preparing to host a powerful live worship recording in Gqeberha (PE) on March 28.

The recording titled Altar Moments, is an event that will blend authentic worship with contemporary Gospel music and will hosted at The Church Of Pentecost, 16 Glen Street, Richmond Hill.

Founded in 2019 in Gqeberha, Friends In Sync, began as a group of friends from different churches who shared a mutual passion for glorifying God through music.

After months of preparation and seeking God’s face for this event, the group has refined the musical arrangements and production to ensure the project maintains the unique identity of the movement.

Their gatherings started as informal worship get-togethers and grew into organised concerts and collaborations and eventually led to their first live recording on September 23 2019 at the Boardwalk.

“That moment marked a major milestone for Friends in Sync, as it was our first time capturing our sound and worship expression in a live setting” said Khanyiso Dyasi who is one of the founding members of Friends In Sync.

Dyasi also spoke fondly of how the public received their first event of that magnitude. “The community welcomed us with such warmth and love. We were assured that there was a real hunger for authentic, Spirit-led worship, and it encouraged us to continue creating live events where people could encounter God beyond just performances” he said.

Today, the collective describes itself not just as a music group but as a movement dedicated to worship, mentorship, and community upliftment with its roots planted in the word of God.

Dyasi also mentioned that the movement focuses on building an ecosystem where emerging Gospel artists can collaborate, grow spiritually, and develop musically in a supportive environment. “Rather than centering solely on performances, Friends In Sync emphasises community, discipleship, and a shared spiritual purpose” he said.

Other leaders of this group also confirmed that longevity of the movement has been sustained by three key principles – a mutual Spirit-led vision rooted in worship, a culture of embracing the beauty of collaboration rather than competing, and the edge to bring multitudes to the Kingdom of God rather than mere events.

The upcoming project, Altar Moments, carries a deep significance for the collective as it speaks profoundly of their sacred place – “ the altar” a place where worship is offered sincerely and freely. The project is inspired by 1Kings 18:24 where the prophet Elijah declares, “The God who answers by fire—He is God,”

When asked why they decided on live recording, Sthembiso Gxumisa who is one of the leaders of Friends In Sync., said: “The decision to record the project live was intentional, as we believe a live environment preserves the spontaneity and spiritual energy of worship.”

“Most of the songs that are planned for this event are original, with a few traditional public favourites. We encourage music writing as that gives our artists an opportunity to prune their artistry and they can worship God in their own words” Dyasi said.

While an official release date for the album has not yet been announced, the group emphasised that their current focus is on faithfully capturing the live worship experience before determining distribution timelines.

Tickets for the event are available on Quicket at R250 for a single ticket and R400 for a double ticket.
